Its a tough call Mark. A lot of times when you have a strong bull trend like that early it flattens out into either a trading range or a long weak pullback. It remained always in long (AIL) during the middle of the day. I agree the odds favor trend resumption higher later in the day but I've seen times when it remains in a trading range like the day you show and that doesn't occur. Looking at the chart it looks like you entered on the reversal up from the 2nd (or 5th) distinct thrust down, then got stopped out when the 3rd (or 6th) distinct thrust came. Then there was the wedge buy from just below the VWAP where you got stopped out, then later the inverse head and shoulders buy. I know its easier for me to say that after the fact vs. real time. I don't swing trade but scalp all day and I'm always counting thrust counts in making my trading decisions looking for 3 for a wedge and sometimes 6. That's a wedge too.

Love this video Mark! Had a similar story this morning in the London Session. Stopped me out on one of my A* setups (I would take again, and again) and ended up rallying to my TP. Just another day in the markets. This is the game haha

*Mark, at first I didn't realise why you don't get that many views, but now I do. It's your titles. You need to start them with the type of video, in your case "Trading" or "Trading Advice" or "Trading Tips" and then have the explanation such as ...Getting stopped out. When people search on KZbin they normally search for this keyword mostly and then extra keywords, so your videos don't show up in the search*
@ukspreadbetting5 жыл бұрын
We have lots of videos starting with those keywords. I think the real issue is that we don't show-off the high life lifestyle of trading millionaires with super cars, luxurious bungalows..etc But we don't want to do that as that's fake.
@KryptosChain5 жыл бұрын
@@ukspreadbetting - *Hahahah, that's also true, but to be honest, KZbin recommends new videos in people's feeds if they're related to trading, try that for your next 10 vids or so and you'll notice the results.*

If you're trading with good risk management and your initial entry also had good low initial risk then you should have just left your initial risk alone instead of moving your stop up and choking the trade. Your initial stop loss is already there to prevent you from loosing more than your plan allows you to so there's really no need to move your stop loss up. Let your trade breathe right? Sometimes the market spikes or makes one more push before the trade finally works. That's just the way it always works. Just my thoughts on this trade.

Thanks for this video. Just had an experience similar to this yesterday on the EURAUD. Thankfully stopped out at breakeven. Otherwise, it would have been a full 1R loss because price inexplicably went so far against my position and through a head and shoulders pattern and support and resistance round number. In fact, 20 minutes before the close of trading on Friday, I was very surprised to see price weakly resume in the direction I predicted after going against and through all of this confluence.

The second low at 301.25 was EXACTLY 0.382 fibonacci retracement (301.24). What is the reason to use 0%/25%/50%/75%/100% levels instead of classic fibs?

I got stung on a Netflix put yesterday on a retest of VWAP, it's not always 100% guaranteed because some trends show an instruments fluctuating constantly above and below VWAP. In this case the VWAP was holding until the last couple of days, there was a bearish engulfer which took it just outside and then a bullish attempt which climbed to about 60% of the last candle, so I thought the next day would see a retest of a low. It did retest, but not nearly enough, it took off well above previous days lows, which made no sense and I lost a ton of money. My conclusion is, generally stay away from divergence shorting, it's too risky, stick to buying the lows in a clear uptrend. Shorts should only really be taken when there's a clear break below the death cross and the general trend is down. All down to risk and reward. Looking at your chart, buying the lows was a much more safer entry, in fact buying the very first low and just leaving it long term would have made you a killing.

I think it might be good to have both charts of the cash etf and the index which include the key levels of the futures market?

Just a bear flag on a larger time frame. Nice trade though. I usually trade something like this by buying the breakout of the uper trend resistance and risking the last support.

You are a rookie trader. 1st mistake - you have to set wider stops and stops should not exceed 2% of your account 2nd mistake - the low you bought, you can set a stop below that trough as there is always a possibility that the market will retest lows and form a double bottom before moving up. Hence failure to understand basic price action. This is a volatile market, too have to set wider stops.
