Stopping Coolant Floor Spills - Kremin Inc.

Our swiss lathes use scrap containers with drip trays to help us keep our machines running smoothly and cleanly. The only problem was our drip trays were overfilling and making a mess! We decided to take matters into our own hands with a custom solution. What do you think? Could your shop implement something like this? Or do you have a better suggestion? This is so simple but beautiful We run a ton of cast iron… the stuff acts like a sponge for our coolant. We have tried side valves under a screen but even then the valves quickly foul. And the coolant never fully drains. I like the idea maybe we can adopt a similar plan.

Did you drill holes in your dump hopper to let it drain? Charles

We have a drain hole with a shut off valve that we installed.
