ABS does not necessarily improve braking distance, it's more important function is that it allows you to turn the wheels while braking and is intended to stop you from losing turning control of the car while braking, the danger of a car with no ABS is that you can lose control of the vehicle and slide into other lanes. In ideal dry conditions it can sometimes improve braking distance, but on wet roads, and in the snow, it's effect on braking distance is either negligible, or can actually increase the time it takes to stop.

ABS works perfect only with perfect road conditions. If there are some bumps or abnormalities on the road ABS makes things worse. ABS is made for average to retarded drivers who press full power on the brakes when panicked. A real driver can take advantage with ABS switched OFF for most of the situations, not panicking and adapting the pressure on the brakes. When you press full power on ABS braking system and the road isn't ideal the breakign time increases vs non ABS vehicle. It's proven. The real problem is that a driving licence is very easy to get there days. Only 10% of the population should be allowed to drive a vehicle and those tests must be more rigourous.

ABS only allows you to maintain control while braking - it doesn't stop a car faster.

Harrison, I have experienced emergency braking with and without ABS. No ABS gives you more control and stopping ability if you know how, ABS is just a better average. ABS makes people believe their car can stop instantly, giving false confidence, and has thus likely been the cause of a higher accident rate. In this video, the important thing to remember is reaction time. At 50 kph, if a car was driving 25 meters behind the one which emergency braked, the car behind would hit a stationary car at 50 kph.

Mrcloc you clearly are one of the people who think a trained foot is better than ABS. You should really research what ABS means. Let me help you, it means (Anti break lock system) it easily stops you 50% faster than a car without it.

it doesn't work like that. you can calulate it using acceleration formula (a=mv2 / 2) -where you use acceleration as deceleration.
