I get the situation. Bike reviews are the only thing that really grows a channel..... we don't do them. Ultimately you need to do what makes you happy. Enjoy the sailing with your family. I'm probably lucky as Carol shares my bike travel interests and we will keep doing that.

I get it. I haven’t been doing much with my channel either. Simply because I haven’t had much time to ride, record and edit footage because of family obligations. As a recent subscriber, less than a year or so, I can see how it's difficult to maintain. Feeding the algorithm. It's nice to have that engagement with manufacturers etc. but my reason for watching was your trips and tours. Gear reviews, not so much. Doing your own channel on your own terms should have been the goal all along. I subscribe to some that put out content twice a year, big tours etc. which is what they want to do. If making a living off YT is the goal, then feeding the machine is the 2 vids per week. From this subscriber, I get it, no issues here, your vids are enjoyable (except when crashing drones 😊) Family first, work to pay the bills, YT is a hobby. Thx G.

Had a similar experience to you. I created a KZbin channel to document my holidays and bike tours with similar intention (to document activities and for family abroad to see my son growing up over the years). Eventually I found I had this unhealthy obsession in trying to post videos every week to satisfy the KZbin algorithm for more views and subscribers, until it got to the stage where I couldn’t relax and enjoy my holidays because I was trying to set scenes and film everything, and no longer enjoyed creating the videos afterwards because it had become such a chore. Thankfully my GoPro became unreliable and stopped me being able to create weekly videos, and I subsequently took a long break from it all. I now only film bike tours with my mates or a day of a ski holiday with my family (and not every day).

Morning Nick I’m off today doing my VAT 😮 I don’t blame you there’s a lot more to life and realised that myself i only upload the odd video to suit me.. you do great videos and come across really well ! but it’s a huge responsibility and once you’re on that road then you feel compelled to take the time to do it, thankfully that never applied to me and I can make proper money doing my own job and just doing my hobbies on the side and maybe an odd video, but I do respect people who work and put the Time in but it would just leave you with no life in my opinion.?? If you’re retired then it’s great but as you say biking channels compared to others are quite small in relative terms to others.. relax and enjoy life without the extra work involved😊😊 Look forward to hearing from you whenever it’s suits you have a great week Phil

Got to do what you want to do. If that's boats, then so be it. I think we all have to be OK with that. Bike reviews get views, but they seem like a lot of work and calling them anything other than 'impressions' is disingenuous. Cake runs and random blogs might not make a channel, but don't underestimate how much people who subscribe to you just want to hear you talking about stuff. You make it look easy, and I know it isn't, but I think a lot of people like those kind of random videos with no real 'point'. I'm sticking with you!

Agree with you. Do what’s best for yourself. And at the end of the day it’s your channel. Obviously boating/yachting is a massive commitment, I’ve looked into doing it but cost and training and learning curve for a solo sailing is prity big and have hobbies like mc is expensive enough. And I’m saving to potently emergrate ether aus or can especially baring in mind I’m going to be forced to close my business because of the 2030 legislation witch I carnt justify the investment in property and assets to stay legal. I’ve noticed with revews of bikes there are good and not so good reviewers and I feel some seem like there forced to review a type of bike that isn’t there cup of tea but creat a very negative review or even the other way over look negative and positives. Bit like my baby r18 transcontinental, I love it and probably my bike for life, but I know it’s not for everyone. But for me it’s a very capable touring bike and I’ve gelled with it. I’ve noticed some reverse were very misleading and clearly haven’t spent any serious time with the bike. But look forward to see future content even if it a few times a year.
