FOMO, when will TCL release their 8K Vidrian TVs?
@MrRaitzi

They have some but not vidrian. Vidrian ran into serious problems with panel color uniformity due to some new electrics regulations on what substances they are allowed to use. This is the only issue known to public.

First q90t came with damaged screen. Replacement had the worst dirty screen effect all over. Had to return it. Very hard to get working right with pc. At 120hz, mouse moved smooth, but videos had hitching, at 60hz, vids played great, but mouse had stutter (while vids played). Couldn't solve that one.

Hisense has came a long way since this, some of their TVS are brilliant for the price, and surprisingly jam packed with features like HDMI 2.1, USB 2.0/3.0, Nice OS, Freeview, ALLM, Dolby Vision HDR, HDR10+, 4K UHD, Bluetooth 5.0, And alot more. For Something under £400 and has amazing features, id say its one of the best tvs for the price.

FYI for Samsung buyers: I came here to see what TV I could get to REPLACE my 26-month-old Samsung UN55NU6900, which half the screen has gone dark. Doing research I found this is a COMMON problem with Samsung TVs. A 2-year-old TV is now worthless since it is "out of warranty" and would supposedly cost more to repair than replace. (Think of the landfills filling with ALL those crappy 2-year-old Samsung TVs!) So my question is, what is the LEAST evil f'n TV manufacturer, with the most longevity in their product?

I love samsung brand, but they didn't implement 10bit matrix in their Q segment and i was a little disappointed. The second con for me is that it does not execute well in gaming mode in terms of local dimming feature... i guess because of the processor isn't capable to manage all the actions needed in that specific scenario (i got that perception when watched video exhibiting both samsung q90 and lg cx oled, which was not compromising any feature).Nevertheless i hate oleds because of anxiety of the pixels getting burnt... Want to ask , does sony have gaming mode and how it performs in that scenario?

Samsung and LG does it for me. Best all rounders and the screen quality is far from other TVs that I have tried before (Sony, Panasonic) since we bought our first LG and replaced it with a Samsung after 4 years, we never came back to any other brand other than the two. There is a reason why they own 65% of the market.
@FrightfulAccountant

They are all around, but my experience is that while they have a reputation on their top of the line tvs, low and mid categorie LGs and Samsungs are most often not the ones to go for. After last years disaster in nanocell picture quality , LGs have recently improved in the mid segment with their improved miniled line, but especially Samsung I would avoid if you have less than 1000 bucks to spend on a tv. I think both Sony and Panasonic have their entry levels put together much better. TCL is another sub 1000 budget tv to advice. And here in Europe, we have Philips that offers a lot at a price where Samsung still offers very little.

LG was the worst tv and refrigerator weve ever had. Switched to TCL and whirlpool and love them both. I thought for sure theyd both be trash because they were so cheap. Nope. We have LG tv but suddenly won't turn on I don't know why. Maybe the backlight ? So the appliance store recommend us to get Sony tv even thought our plan is go for TCL because of the price. So now we bought SONY Bravia 50' X75 .. I really love the picture quality, the colors and motion it also have X protection pro. The cons is the price it's pricey than to other brand but it's okay the quality is superb and durability.

I I’m looking for a65” Tv I would like to be told the at this price I’d picture is most important this tv,of gaming is most important this manufacturer, if features are most important get this. I was a sony guy for the last 7-8 years with my last TV being the x900e, I then bought the 900h but it had dse that was too distracting so I exchanged it for a Samsung q8dt but it had horrible vertical banding so I ended up exchanging that for the nano90. And the picture quality is so much better than any sony I have owned, I don't know why this TV gets so much hate, it has better blacks then the 900h and when you use dynamic contrast it blows the Sony away hockey looks 10 times better on the nano90, I always felt something was off about the Sony's with sports ( on a side note the Samsung is horrible for hockey it has noise all around the players). Sure the nano90 has some blooming but it's not that bad and really only noticeable on loading screens, it actually has better black bars then my 900e ( the 900h was great with the black bars). My nano90 90 actually has a bit of vertical banding but I like it too much to care lol. And gaming is awesome on it. If Oled didn't have risk of burn in I would go for that as i would imagine the picture quality is superb but for the price I don't think you can beat the nano90 none of you reviewers actually talk about what these tvs are like for regular TV watching. The Nano90 also does great with hdr and Dolby Vision , the Mandalorian looks way better on the nano90 then the 900h and Formula 1 on Netflix looks so good. So looks like I'm switching from Sony to LG, and by the way this would have never happened if the 900h wasn't sold out, I'm actually happy they were.

I don't game, I need no extras; I want my Criterion Collection and my very select 4k-collection to look great. BUT; I'm on a budget.. I want panasonic, I can pay for Hisense.

I've been binging FOMO and RTINGS videos for the last week or two nonstop. I still can't decide what to get. My gut and natural draw keeps going toward the Sony X900H. But then I think maybe I could easily get by and live with the 800h instead. I think pretty much any TV would be an upgrade for me. Currently I really don't watch much if any TV in part.... if I do watch tv I'll be sitting at my computer and use one of my 32" monitors as my defacto tv to stream content on while I cruise the internet on the other monitor. Also..... because my current TV is about 9 years old. A moderately priced if not cheap at the time of purchase Toshiba of all things. Pretty sure they don't even make TVs anymore or at least don't sell them in the US anymore. It's also a 47" TV i believe with about 2-3" bezels, Haha. I bought the thing in college which again was damn near a decade ago. I'm not a videophile (I assume that's a thing.... I know audiophiles are a thing) by any means.... but I do notice imperfections more than normal people. My only must have capability is that the TV needs to play live sports and not look like a blurry and jittery pile of steaming turds..... like my current TV. As far as movies go though..... pretty sure I'd be fine with anything seeing as I'm tolerant of my current tv's movie playing capability already. So I'm pretty sure I'd be blown away by any 2020 tv's movie playing capability. Sports though.... I feel like that has been TV's Achilles heel for forever. Nerds lament about the gaming specs. I'm not a gamer by any means but if I was...... why are people still playing games on consoles and their TVs and not on their computer and just get a 32 or larger actual gaming PC monitor? So... gaming is a non issue for me. Why am I saying this? Hoping someone here with tv tech knowledge will just suggest what I should get. As for the size of screen? The house i just bought in April and live in has a long living room in which the viewing setup has to be lengthwise just because of the room layout. So I'm going to be about 14 feet from the tv sitting directly in front of it.... and that's at the closest.... I could probably push my sofa back yet another 12-18". So at that distance my current 47 incher looks a bit ridiculous. I can't believe just 20 years ago or so and in the 90s we grew up with the average TV size being like 27"..... how did we manage? Haha. So with that distance in mind I'm thinking more along the lines of a 75" TV. I'm fucking kicking myself because the Sunday after Thanksgiving I was perusing bestbuy's app and they were having their black Friday deals. They had soundbar+TV packages going at stellar prices. I wish I truly understood how stellar at the time because the price isn't even remotely close to that now. They had the 75" 900h paired with a solid sony soundbar (reg. MSRP about $700 for the soundbar alone) going for $2000. Better yet.... they had the 85" 900h paired with the same soundbar going for....... $2000. Those prices mere hours later that next Monday and ever since - $2500 and like $3000-3100 respectively. Just went on the app again and I'm guessing they're having their Christmas week sale going because the 85" package is now at $2800..... still.... not close to the 2 grand it was about 3 weeks ago. So..... can someone just recommend a tv for me. Definitely suffering from analysis paralysis here, Haha. Criteria: 1) smooth and enjoyable live sports capability. 2) good movie capability.... ideally toward the high end... HDR..... Dolby vision. Just for longevity. When I buy a TV I intend to keep it for probably 10 years.... like my current one 3) 14' viewing distance. So ideally 75" if not 85" screen. 65" is in play but I'd have to be absolutely blown away by the picture. I'm not sold on oled just because the only content I've seen played on one is best buy and they only ever roll the stock 4k footage I'm guessing every manufacturer owns. You know... the stupid honey dripping/pouring footage. I feel like they've been playing that content on tv showroom floors for like 5 years now. EVERY TV that plays that stock footage looks stellar to me and I can't really tell the difference to be honest. LCD looks just as good playing that content to me as OLED. the Sony x900h again is the one I keep going back to. But I'm wondering if the 800h would be "good enough." Bestbuy has that TV+soundbar deal going for the 75" 800h and the soundbar they're pairing with all the Sony tvs for $1600. 75" 900h package..... still $2500. Is the jump from 800h to 900h worth $900?

@doseofreality100 Your plight sounds all too familiar... I was in your shoes less than a month ago, and my journey led me to an 85" Sony X900H. I, too, watched countless hours of TV reviews and loaded up on pertinent information before my initial trip to the store. I left empty-handed on the first trip, only to do more research at home. ; -) On the second trip, I had my choices narrowed down to three. I wanted to maximize size vs. performance vs. cost. Finally, I spent over an hour looking at the 75" X800H and X900H models side-by-side. In store, there just *wasn't* enough difference visually to justify the price jump to the 900 series, so I ended up coming home with the 75" 800H. The 800H *is* a great TV. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you had on it. It also *is* quite a bit different when you get it home in your living room, vs. the cranked up "vivid" picture in the brightly lit store. Whatever you do, *don't* pay attention to QuantumTV's review on it, he must have gotten a defective sample or something... All in all, I could've been content with it, but... Black Friday came around, and I stumbled on that deal that you spoke of. $1,969 for an 85" X900H is way too good of a deal to pass up. It will roll around again, hopefully. -There was *no sound bar included* in that deal however. My 75" X800H, purchased at $999, was returned. Yes, the 85" X900H for twice the price, is subjectively twice as good. You only get a new TV approximately once a decade. It's an extremely important item in your home, and enriches your life. The fact that you're doing this much research and questioning tells me that you view the subject similarly. As the video's author proclaims, "Stop The FOMO"... *Get the one that you want.* It's only a bit more, perhaps a bit longer payments on the CC, but immensely more enjoyable. :-) Very much worth it.

@FULL HD - tech is always "better" next year. It's a saying that applies every year. This time in 2021 "wait till next year _____ will be better" will be said by many. And again in 2022.... 2023.... etc. As far as OLED being "brighter".... I really couldn't care less. I fail to see the value and justification for the higher premium for OLED TVs when I can barely tell the difference between them and the higher end LED-LCD screens. People rave about the better picture quality..... but there are cons to oled picture-wise too.... a fairly large con being lost shadow detail due to crushed blacks. Their biggest pro - being able to get true black - leads to their biggest picture con.... lost shadow detail. It's the exact same con LCD screens have just on the opposite end of the spectrum with being too bright and blown out and lost detail in bright scenes. So IMO..... do you want to see detail in dark scenes? Go with traditional LED-LCD screens. Want to get the detail in the brightest of shots? Go OLED. IMO losing detail in dark scenes is more crucial because most times the blown out images on an LED TV tend to be in extremely unimportant areas in the scene.... like cloud detail in the sky..... or the sun setting..... or maybe an explosion that blasts your tv with just a screen of white for a fraction of a second. Entire fucking movies or shows can be filmed essentially in the shadows/dark as hell scenes. Maybe I'm wrong but either way I fail to see the justification for the price premium for oled when the higher end lcds are pretty much right there with them in picture quality. That and..... pretty sure no OLED goes up to 85". If it does it would probably be north of $6000. And fuck that nonsense, Haha. For me, sitting 13-14 feet away a 65" oled would feel like a lateral move solely on size alone. Bottom line.... I think OLED is just incredibly overhyped..... and as such - overpriced.

@@stevenjones916 - is the picture quality that much better to warrant the price jump? I think I've made up my mind already though.
