Hi chris. What a dull existence some people must have, a life with no curiosity or imagination, poo poo to them. Life is short, so have some fun.

Absolutely! Thanks Gayle 👍😊

Looks like your knock-o-meter is calibrated nicely 👌. And to really make sure no trains are coming you've got to put your ear to the track, sometimes they're hidden right round the bend. 😄 I'm glad you've made some money on this scrap out, but man, I wouldn't have the patience for such a fiddly task. Next time I find some I'll send them your way.

Ah, I forgot about the ear to the track thing! Luckily I didn't have a piece of track with a bend in it! 😉🤣 It was fiddly, but rewarding! 👍

Quite a lot of silver actually - but you need to be careful of the dust!

Math theory says that numbers go on forever. This series will certainly put that to test! I have a disassembled wood lathe and about 2 or 3 heavy motors floating around waiting to be put together. Great minds think alike or are we just easily deluded! 😂😂😂

How about great minds that are easily deluded! 🤣🤣

A nice silver find! I know you like to hammer on the railroad track... but I think if you crushed both ends in a chunky bench vice, it would make quick work of those fuses with less shrapnel?
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
The ceramic was quite tough hence the big sized hammer Martin. I think a vice may have created more shrapnel with pressure then sudden breakages. Also I would have had sand go all over the floor!

I would give you $5 for the box of fuses if I was closer! Very enlightening video, Chris.

Thanks mate - they should sell quickly enough!

HRC stands for High Rupturing Capacity, which means it can withstand a very high short current with minimal arcing. A standard fuse can arc and explode. In NZ and Australia, if the fuse has gM printed on it, it means it's a slow acting fuse suitable for motors, as motors have a high start current due to the initial torque required to get moving. gG is normal rated.

Hi Chris, HRC on fuses means High Rupturing Capacity. Lol I post as I go thru video I guess I should have waited until the end.

Hi Chris, I though U try one of the little fuses, just incase it got silver in it, cheers Graham
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
Once they get down to that small I think they just have a very thin wire Graham, so didn't think it was worth it even if they were silver.

yeah be careful doing this in ventilated area, old cheramics in eletrics can contain heavy metals and Beryllium Oxide, breathing in the dust is toxic..
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
Very good point, I actually wasn't thinking about the ceramics! More concerned with the very fine silica dust since it is such an issue with tradies working with stone benchtops these days and the risk of silicosis!
