I worked at a Grand Union on Long Island in the mid to late 1980s. I can't believe that this video was filmed in 2021. A huge amount of the Grand Union style is still very evident in this store.

i once worked at a stop and shop that was a grand union prior to 2001 and this is exactly how it looked

Wow what a throwback! Even for a Stop&Shop they are many design formats behind...back to when they had the original stoplight logo. The green asile signs, green cashier lights, every department being called a "shop". The old Stop&Shop typeface on the outside of the store. Probably haven't seen any of that in over 10 years. They were pretty agressive about going to the new look after the rebrand in 2008. While this store definitely needs a renovation, it was kind of a cool blast from the past to see one still like this.

I found it interesting how they just shoved some shelves in front of it and called it a day.

Damn, Produce, Deli and Seafood look like it's the same location spots. I think they used lot of the original fixtures.

I walked around this store yesterday, minus the filming. The freezers in the back are still empty believe it or not

The Kmart vent at 11:54 sounds exactly like the one at the Ollies in shillington, pa near the rug and hardware department.

I definitely used to volunteer my time, stocking shelves and sorting by expiration date. And ensuring that all the shelves look full. And sorting by each brand.

I forgot to mention, the old K-Mart has a unique structure and heavy beams that bend/arch to support, there was another building like that in Paramus. It was next to the Bergen Mall and was a Shop Rite food center with Ice Skating rink next door. Both buildings were torn down and Shop Rite relocated where the old Cinema theaters are / or is now 24-Fitness

I used to work at the Grand Union and remember the K-Mart from the early 1980's. Wow, place looks run down and decrepit. About 8 years ago I visited and it was all abandoned. The parking lot looked completely trashed. Looks like they just threw on some cheap filler on the street to buy some more time.

Very run down. Carts all over. The company needed to repair and update the store.
