It is a felony that The Hate U Give isn’t being mentioned in Oscar conversations it was phenomenal

gotta love that the academy/other awards shows don't put any stock in things aimed at teens, it's so demeaning. Some performances in the Hunger Games should have been given more attention too. :(

As for the hate you give- Unfortunately the topic by now has just been hammered into the dirt so much. I think people are just not interested in paying to watch a movie about police brutality, race and BLM. We have the news and media in our ears 24/7 about it, so maybe that’s why people didn’t want to watch a movie about a topic that’s already causing so much division. I didn’t like the book for that reason. There was no unity. It was a victim mentality story and I just thought the book wasn’t that great. I would have rather read a book about someone rising from the ashes instead of making excuses about why drug dealers have no other choices and white people do not understand etc....I will say I listened to the audible version vs the book and maybe it was the narrator that turned me off. Every time she impersonated the white girl, it was valley girl and ditzy. I just didn’t like the stereo typical white vs black vibe. The movie was better IMO.
