I've been storing my die cuts by colour for awhile now, so I finally decided to sort all my chipboard as well. This shows the behind the scenes process of how I sorted my chipboard and a few different ways to remove the sticky from chipboard. If you want to just see the final organized drawer of chipboard, skip to the last 5 minutes or so.
Thanks for watching! Let me know in the comments section how you store your chipboard!

I’ve been saying I was going to sort my die cuts into the small iris cases but you know I’ve been dragging my feet doing it. But watching you today made me this Michael’s will be on my to do list today.

It's such a good feeling getting these stored isn't it?!!! I did that last week (except I sorted by theme because I'm a theme scrapper). It hit me I rarely ever use chipboard; and, duh, it's because they weren't sorted! I peeled the sticky backing off all mine while I watched a movie. Ha

Brilliant! I just have all my chipboard sheets in a drawer, but I feel like this is a much better storage method. I may do this...

I always agree with your storage system.you could do a tag box too and maybe separate your flowers into 2 colour boxes...thanks for sharing! Enjoy your new room..

Love this... I’m the one who told you when you moved upstairs, I did the same weekend! However... mines still all sitting in there!! I can’t even walk in there to begin organizing 😢 I feel sooo overwhelmed that I don’t even know where to begin! That is frustrating me even more, because I enjoy my scrappy time to just unwind and decompress and I can’t find anything to do so!! I know I’ve just got to begin but I just keep walking in and then walking back out ... This video was encouraging though! Maybe I need to go back and watch your old up close/ detailed tour..

I put my cornstarch and baking soda into a knee hi panty hose and tied the end off. It is inexpensive and works great! Make it as large or small as you wish and just "dust" or tap on your items to remove stickiness or remove static cling before embossing. Not near the mess as using your tray!

Well done, Tracy! Great storage tips! ! I'm a themed scrapper rather than a colour scrapper but this would work just as well for theme! I've had a go at storing my embellies this way and it works well. I don't have enough chipboard or die cuts to create a system!! Helen xxx

Hi Tracy…I don’t have the de sticking tool….so I have used half of a dry baby wipe and I have sewn around it to make a pocket full of cornstarch so I use that to de- stick die cuts.

I just sorted all my stickers, chipboard and embellishments by color last month. I am no longer scrapping by manufacturer for design teams or publications so it was a bit liberating to sort it in a way that suited me. I found that I looked at the stickers/etc with new eyes when it wasn't mixed with others on the sticker sheets.

It's funny you have this video up today, because recently I was kind of "pawing" through a drawer in my scrap desk, and came across some chipboard letter sheets that I got some years ago, and some raw chipboard shapes. While I have used some of the letters, I don't think I've ever done anything with the shapes. I have the latter in baggies, and am not even sure what all they are! :P The letters are different colors, which rarely go with anything I do. (Not even sure why I got them in the first place.) So I am thinking of just peeling off the top colored layer and seeing if I can have them be raw, so I can just paint them as needed. Thank you so much for this video, Tracy! You are truly inspiring. I hope to get back into my craft room this week. Between depression & recent (physical) illness, I have gotten a whole lot of nothing done. :( But I feel I need to get back to it--it's such great therapy for the most part! :)

I just finished sorting my ephemera by color. I found that I was spending way too much time looking through my ephemera so I decided to sort them by color and now I find that I am using them more because I can find what I want easier.

How do you stick them to your scrapbookpages? Will the glue stick to the powder?
@mercytiara
@mercytiara 6 жыл бұрын
As long as you dust away an excess powder, glue works fine.

I have been scrapbooking for about 9 years now so the supplies in my stash come from a lot of different places. Much of my stash comes from kit clubs that I subscribed to, or designed for, or from manufacturers who I have collaborated with in one way or another. But I’ve done my share of scrappy shopping at Michael’s, Simon Says Stamp, and Scrapbook.com too!

This may be a silly question but is it possible that the cornstarch could attract insects or chemically breakdown if there is any moisture ( high humidity) in my craft area ? I love your storage system and am going to try to sort and store my embellishments in those small Iris boxes. Thanks so much for the video

I thought of that and I guess it’s possible, I’ll let everyone know if I run into any trouble with it. You could use talcum powder or baby powder if you wanted to be really safe. I figured since cornstarch hasn’t attracted any bugs in my scraproom, even when it was in the basement (I used to keep it in a cardboard box), I figured it ought to be safe. I could be wrong though... I’ll let you know!

Well, apparently talcum powder causes cancer, and baby powder is made of corn starch these days, so I guess there aren’t as many options as I thought! 😮

I have very little chipboard but won’t it bother you it not being with its respective collection? I have to have things with their partners :-(
@mercytiara
@mercytiara 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s the downside to this method and the thing s that held me back for years from doing this with my die cuts. If I had less chipboard I would probably have kept it in it’s sheets. I have found that I use my die cute a lot more since sorting them by colour so I’m hoping that is the case with chipboard too. But I think it’s important to know how you scrap and if you reach for things by collection then this would definitely not work! I like the idea of storing paper collections together with their coordination embellishments too, but I’ve never sorted things that way. Thanks for your comment!
