Would you have a video showing you how to store the apeks spool already attached to an SMB?

I have tried the wrong way immediately with my spool and swing it back & forward. The spool did drop out like instantly …. Great video

Good video. I use another technique to store reel and SMB but I understand and appreciate your idea

well... good idea of keeping line... for ppl who think its a hassle winding the reel with a big hand gloves just have to do the normal one and come back up to do the proper one to prevent from fault...i does that every time on the boat or shore and this save me lot of time . hehe... my 2 cent opinion😊

It's just heat-shrink tubing. Makes the end nice and stiff.

Great video, But could be better... Another video shows two small loops on the Big Loop that is great ! tjl

Try doing that in cold water with big dry suit gloves on. That is just impossible.

I use the same spool and the smaller 15m version all the time in Irish waters with drysuit and 5mm gloves and theres no issues

But in thick gloves making this is not as comfortable as in this vid, I have say. In Peter the Great Bay of Japan Sea the temp's often run below 10 C. Though on the surface there is high summer there.

Just don’t use dry gloves ;) a 5mm glove is good for cold water (4 degrees here in Belgium and no issue for me :) )

Purpose of doing it this way is?

+mark c Mainly so you lessen the chance of losing a spool. It gives a little distance between the boltsnap and the spool itself so it is less likely of unclipping against the spool. The loop around the nub on the bolt snap helps to prevent the gate from opening unless you are opening it, and when unclipped you have enough line to manipulate instead of having to pinch at the line. :)

really really disagree with this... SMBs can be the difference between life and death in some cases...and an inflation that takes longer than a few seconds is ridiculous. this is a fiddly mess. far too complex and especially in cold water with gloves. knot the end of the line to the clip...clip the clip through the smb holes... done...

This way is better than the normal way, so you do it at least pre-dive like this. That way you're sure you'll have your spool+smb when you need it, no problem if you store it in cold water the old way. You don't have to do it _every_ time like this, but when you can you should do it the safest way, which I think is this way. If the video goes to fast I'm willing to make a slowmotion version for you? I'm lefthanded so I you want I can ever do it lefthanded.

Nobody is going to do this. How about you show a more realistic way. This isn't a very technically inspired way now is it.
