Storm Babet destroying the south pier of the Tyne

at the mouth of the river Tyne as seen from south shields. The roof is already off.

Bet that's the end of the pier closed for ohhh say 2 years.

I am inclined to agree except we have cruise ship sized ferries to Europe and global car transport ships that dock up the Tyne as well as a host of smaller craft. If it affects these they may be forced to hurry on. I doubt they'll get much done in winter either way.

Can't just go to b,and q and buy a new top ,wall is gone too

@@chriscringle7740It was low tide when I was there. I saw water being thrown 5-6 times the height of the pier. I'm impressed by anything still standing on the east coast.

@@whycantwegetalong4465 North pier is damaged on top wall as well as the groyne and thats in the harbour. Amazing the power of nature

@@chriscringle7740 I heard about the groin so that's where we went next but it looked ok. Granted biggest waves I'd seen on little haven beach but nothing bothering the groin. Got pictures.
