Abandoned Tyne Dock Flats in South Shields

This is an Abandoned housing estate somewhere in the North East, there were over 100 flats and we went in almost every one of them. Most were gutted and ready for demolition but some still had a lot of family belongings inside, one flat looked like the resident had just done a full food shop with cupboards full of food, in there living room there was still family photos, so it looks as though they just upped and left. The local council has said these flats were unfit to live in and will be demolished in the next few weeks, a new modern housing estate will replace this one. Explored with kyle

1990-1996 I lived at No.152 Dock Street, 3rd floor flat over looking the Port of Tyne Gates. Back then the port used to store huge piles of coal waiting to be shipped around the world and all the dust used to blow into the flats. You would find loads of coal dust on the window sills every day. God knows how much of that we breathed in. Its all a huge car park for Nissan now to store their vehicles before shipping them off. Happy days.

Me nana lived in one of them. I went to that school that was in front of it. I used to slide through the fence in the corner at break time and go to hers. I was 5 years old

I know where this is I used to live nearby ! some of the flats were allocated to younger single people ! God knows where they are now? but the flats are still there and boarded up !

This flats are perfectly usable for today's housing problems. What a complete waste of money knocking these down. Would cost more to do this than to give them all a make over and re let at aa affordable social housing. Bloody councils...more money than sence 😠😠

They all look like old council blocks it’s such a waste isn’t it when I see things like this it breaks my heart because there’s people out there that could do with a home they just left to rot big shame

A grew up here in the 70s, heartbreaking to see wot its turned into over the years and to see it now, so much of my childhood and happy memories torn down! Me school man, a loved it there 💔

Top corner is still in use with a young people's charity. . They've been pulling them for over 36yrs. I lived in Hudson st as a kid. I remebr my mam saying the council going to pull them down ... Now they finally are black by block. Great memories.

I there was 1 corner of the estate with about 4 flats lived in, 1 had a motorbike outside, surprised it didn't get nicked lol

Was it the one on the front corner on Hudson Street. I'm sure the ones fracing the the new houses were still being used by the charity. Could be wrong haven't dealt with them for a year or so. . This was a really good community in the 80s and 90s. And I helped design lord Nelson play park as a kid . :-)

It’s such a shame that place is just get left and abandoned wasting away so many places in areas area That you find in different places different countries different abandoned cities houses what the history behind some of it
