As a Storm Chaser, he should know that being inside a car is the last place you want to be in a tornado, because it can crush the car, roll it over, and smash you flat. I've heard it said over and over that laying flat in a ditch is your best bet, if you don't have a storm shelter. BUT then again, debris was flying everywhere. Being outside could get you pummeled or cut in half by sharp debris. So I don't know what I would do really
@Raineydropp9 жыл бұрын
RedNymph234 Im guessing you didn't watch the part of the video where it showed they weren't in a car, but in a tank designed for strong winds and debris, that also bolts into the ground?
@Dangerousbuzz9349 жыл бұрын
RedNymph234 The vehicle used was the Tornado Interception Vehicle. It was designed to take direct hits from tornadoes by sliding plates flush to the ground (Preventing wind from going under the chassis), and sending rods into the ground anchoring the vehicle in place. Only two of these vehicles exist in the world
@iPlayWithFireYT9 жыл бұрын
Dangerousbuzz934 True but it has it's limits. An F4 is pushing it. It was designed to take on smaller storms F3 being the absolute limit. They got extremely lucky. Keep in mind an F4 or strong F5 can destroy a train. A tank stands no chance.

@cowboycolts9 жыл бұрын
they were expecting it to be an EF3 or weaker considering that was the strength of the tornados that touch down that day and that vehicle is designed to take max winds of an EF3 but the tornado that hit them turned out to be an EF4 which they weren't expecting and that exceeded the max wind speed that thing is designed to take, they were lucky that it wasn't stronger or it could of hit the vehicle with a giant piece of debris and plus I think they were latched just not as well as they should of been

This is why you do this , you want to be up close and personal , and survive to tell the story 👍🇺🇸
God and His Angels were with them this day, to hold them down and it wasn't their time. You can say, oh he got lucky, or oh, that vehicle was so heavy that it couldnt be moved. But anyone who studies tornadoes and severe weather like this knows they could have easily been thrown through the air, no matter the weight of that vehicle. Theres been many that have been a lot heavier that have been thrown up to a mile away. We saw that here in North Alabama in 2011. God was with them, for sure!

Amazing footage: make it small and talk over the whole thing, take the footage off screen so we can read about it instead. 10/10

I stay pretty current on this stuff. I didn't know Tim, Paul, and Carl personally but I have some really good friends who were really good friends with them. El Reno was a beast.
