Luke you absolutely killed it on this one! You left no questions to be asked…… I really don’t know what Storm is thinking with the price on this one. They have a lot of competition that’s well under that price tag.

When you have a line that's historically been overpriced for what it is (this is the belmo line remember), eventually you push it too far.

I think it's really just up there because of the vintage name, but they missed the sweet spot for nostalgia because the Lightnings weren't really super big name balls as far as I'm concerned. If they'd make a new El Nino, Trauma, X-Factor, Eraser, Charge, etc., that'd get people going a little bit more I'd think. Like B7 has been pulling in all the things people actually remember like the Rhino Pro, Cuda, Messenger, etc., and those balls are every bit as old and older in some cases than the Lightning balls. I was throwing Storm stuff back then too, and I just don't ever remember anyone caring that much about Lightnings. I had virtually everything else they made from 1999-2005, never had one of those and don't really remember anyone else throwing them either, so why they decided to go that direction and put that kind of a price on it beats the hell out of me.

@@LukeRosdahl definitely a weird choice. I never threw a X-Factor or El Niño, but with how much people talk about them. It would have been a slam dunk, but we might see them later in the year….. If they actually listen to people. I feel like Storm has lost its identity the past couple years. It’s not what it used to be.

I'm just not sure what they're doing. There's no consistency, they say one thing and do another, nobody seems to talk up there, it's like they've just been in panic mode throwing things at the wall ever since covid, all while continuing to strut around like they're the best at everything. Now, you have some people that guzzle the koolaid so fast that you couldn't tell them that, but very little of what they're doing makes sense right now.

Very good job I liked how you with the graphics for where to put the ball in the bag plus as you were speaking compliments what you posted. If you want to do that in the future with other ball reviews/videos keep it up that way, we can be realistic, but I also like your honesty saying that there’s other factors involved such as other things we learned such as lane conditions, speed, rev rate and more.

So I'm really liking the new format. Something that's tighter and more efficient. While I do like the technical stuff, it does get a little bit long to watch. One thing that I would like to add to this video in light of you now having cross-brand information is what this ball would be similar to across all the other brands. Not a deep dive but just stating that this ball is similar to Brunswick, motiv, pick your ball. I know that when it comes to the SPI balls, all the SPI crybabies don't want to see Brunswick in there but that's life. I have no brain to affiliation and roll whatever looks good in my hands. As far as the blackout ball is concerned, I like the idea of it but it also has too much familiarity with the hy-road max. Wicked strong cover with a medium to weak core means it's just going to fade into obscurity. Myself and apparently many others could not match up with that ball and see the blackout fading just as easily and quickly.

Recently, I chose the road over this for my most recent purchase. Not only is it 30$ less but it is more matched in core and cover and my ruby and fate are both getting on with age (I got a rip for burn)

(speed dom 17ish, 300ish revs) Last 5-6 weeks at one my house leagues the Fate at 1500 game 1 has been great on fresh sliding @ 16, arrows @8 , and game 3 the Hustle RIP at 4000 has been lights out. I have dipped in game 2, maybe this perfect ball for that even if over priced.

Yeah, same cover as the Fate, just a weaker core, or just like a stronger RIP, so it would definitely fit in between them. I think it's a little more angular than the Fate, but to my eye it rolls just like the RIP but stronger.

I'd be kind of interested to stack it up against one of the Hustles . . there may actually not be an arrow's worth of difference there. ReX is awfully clean and weakish for how strong it's supposed to be.

@@LukeRosdahl Thanks for the reply. My only real experience with the ReX cover is on my VEBO. It is indeed a very long and clean cover. I added a fair bit of surface to get something out of it earlier on the lane. To me ReX works in the oil a bit and does not give a strong read on friction. A pearl that acts like a very weak solid, for lack of a better description.

How does it compare to the Xponent Pearl?

On paper it's got a stronger cover and slightly weaker core, but on the lane, the XP Pearl is the earlier and slightly stronger ball.

How does this ball shape up against the wolverine? I know that’s a ball that you and angel have talked about liking quite a bit and the length looks similar

Wolverine had a stronger core, but weaker cover. I would imagine it would be in a similar territory overall.
