There's something so refreshing about people being able to watch movies and enjoy them as they are like this. I think with the age of communication and information being as great as it is, it's almost made some people feel too informed. When movies come out everyone and their aunt has something to say about "the narrative", "the writing" and "character arcs". dannybob42 what’s the point of showing shades of grey if they don’t do anything with it. It gets mentioned and then disregarded. Yeah it’s important for the plot but if it isn’t interesting or fully developed then it brings the movie down. The casino planets main problem is that it isn’t as interesting as the Luke Rey and Kylo storyline. And underdevelopment is the main problem with TLJ. The entire film is telling us that the past needs to die Jedi and sith. It needs to move forward but the last few minutes disregard that and Rey will become a Jedi and the film is back to wear it begin. except more rebels are people are dead. Removing the casino planet and changing Finns storyline and focusing more on developing Luke and Rey’s relationship and most importantly Rey learning what Luke and past Jedi did wrong would have made the movie much stronger.

Victor Luna Kylo and a Suicidal Luke say that though, both in order to turn Rey against training to be a Jedi, it’s not the driving message of the film it’s something Luke himself overcomes to find peace. As for Finn learning the shades of grey, it mirrors Rey’s learning of the Force not belonging to either side, you can talk about underdevelopment but the Emperor got next to nothing but mentions in dialogue until Jedi and nobody complains about that If the casino planet was removed then there would be no final battle, most of the resistance would still be dead but the First Order would still have a massive fleet at their disposal and probably would’ve still found the resistance on Crait via Rey’s escape pod - if they didn’t shoot it down. But then everyone would complain that Finn did nothing and his resolve to embrace the rebellion rather than simply following Rey and also try and die a hero came from nowhere

There is one big moment that I wish had been different though, I wish that kylo Ren hadn't been revealed as Han and Leia's son until Han saw him on that bridge, and called out to him. The film is FUN, but I find the structure less well defined than the previous trilogies. In the context of the big story, I mean. It looks a bit too much like A NEW HOPE. The end of the RETURN OF THE JEDI is abandoned in my opinion: I would have liked to see Luke's New Jedi Order. Or show the New Republic installed by the Rebel Alliance. See the First Order in the role of the Rebels this time etc...The film is really based on the Nostalgia of the original Trilogy. It is both a strength and a weakness. And Rey is far too talented with the Force for someone who barely discovers his potential (EX: THE MIND CONTROL?). Otherwise it's always nice to watch. However, it is always nice to see your reactions too ^^

Basically they needed clone solders for the big galactic 'takeover' of the prequels. Once they were in charge they had the reach of so many planets they could just 'recruit' the way any army does. I dont think we know specifics of any scheme to take kids from their parents.

Rey knows how to fly a ship despite not owning one and never leaving the planet. Rey Can fix ships despite not owning one or ever flying one (Though I can let that slide due to her scavenger past.) Rey can use the force without knowing what it is or having any training, and not in the 'oh I just used force push for the first time' way. No, as in a full, totally successful mind trick kinda way. Rey can defeat a trained lightsaber and force user without having training for either. Rey has no identifiable character flaws. She's practically perfect and apparently without equal. Rey is unrelatable and is poorly written. Not to mention that Disney seems to be on a killing spree with old characters, I am very worried about Lando returning that in the upcoming pile of crap that is Rise of Skywalker that he'll be killed off too. And that's Just the Force Awakens, don't get me started on the Last Jedi.

It seems to me that Harrison Ford wanted to finish with Star Wars. I think it's really him who brings all the emotion in the film (with Leia). He always had charisma. Originally in the LEGEND Universe, Han and Leia have 3 children: Jacen (who inspired Kylo Ren), Jaina (Jacen's Twin), and Anakin (the youngest). Personally, I would have liked them to keep the principle of 3 children for them. Maybe not necessarily with the same name, but I like the idea that the Skywalker family has expanded ^^

It’s about redemption, loss, love, and hope. The sequels embody all of those aspects in my opinion. When I watch them, I long to be a part of the Star Wars universe. I feel for the characters. The films give me hope that even among the darkness, there is light. Together, they bring balance. That is why I love the sequels.

So the next movie in theatrical release is Rogue 1 and it's set more then 30 years before this one (it takes place around a day before A New Hope) then after that is The Last Jedi (lot of people have "uncivilized" debates over this one, personally I'm not too fond of it) that movie takes place right where this movie finished with Luke on the Island and then after that one is Solo which is set more than 40 years before this one.

One of the most disappointing cinema experiences of my life, but it’s none the less refreshing to see a positive reaction from some new sets of eyes. Even though I will never enjoy it, this does make me appreciate the film a little more, as you guys are definitely more the target audience as supposed to the hardcore fans. Great reaction, can’t wait for the new one. (TLJ on the other hand I will never appreciate, but I’m intrigued to see your thoughts in it anyways. Prepare to be disappointed by Luke...)

The see more people commenting about the angry fanboys than actual angry fanboys. To me, Force Awakens was very mediocre. But Last Jedi was atrocious. I have nothing against anyone if they personally like either of those movies. Just Last Jedi destroyed me as a Star Wars fan. But I respect everyone's different opinions. And I respectfully disagree with you if you want Star Wars to continue in this direction. And don't call me "racist, sexist" or any other "ist," just for not liking Last Jedi. Come up with actual valid cricisms. I have many valid criticsms why Last Jedi is god awful. I know every one has different opinions, but Rian Johnson's writing for Last Jedi would get an F in a basic English writing class at a community college.

Did you notice that when the sun was on Kilo Ren, he was turning good, but then the sun was extinquished and its force on him was released, letting the dark side win. :O
