One thing I always wondered is what would it be like if the Galactica jumped INTO the mass of oncoming Cylon fighters? Would that sudden appearance of mass and twisting of space shred the incoming, Or would they suddenly splat against the hull like so many bugs on a semi windshield? Either way - be a helluva spectacle.

Unpopular opinion: I liked this show better than The Wire and I LOVED The Wire (and Babylon 5). Binge watched BSG with my brother from late 2008-summer 2009 and I've been ruined for all other media. Its been 7 years since it ended and it's probably the most powerful story I've ever watched and I include film in that and I've (supposedly so they say) good taste. It did the epic and intimate with equal craft and its an honest to god life changing (if you let it) study on what it means to be alive and human nature and how best to respond to the trials life throws at us and how we all are striving to get/stake out a small measure of peace. Well done Ron Moore, David Eick and company, you magnificent supersonic bastards.

Easily the best SciFi series of the last 20 years, and we could debate its place in the wider timeframe for a very long time I suspect. And unlike much of the other stuff, it wasn't just about the battles and the FX, although this clip proves they got it so very right in that respect. No, it was the fact that you got wrapped up in the characters, and that they were given dialogue that made sense, in situations that made sense. Remember when Petty Officer Dualla had what looked like a nice date with Apollo, all smiles and happy, then she just went up to her locker, pulled out her sidearm and blew her own brains out? You wouldn't get *that* in Star Trek or Stargate. BSG was the reason I finally upgraded to a good Blu Ray player and got rid of the DVD machine- I bought the full & complete box set and it really does make a difference, so much better in picture and sound than the broadcast version. I just wish Ronald D. Moore had been given a proper crack at expanding the universe; "Caprica" was not, I think, what he originally intended, it plays and feels like two separate shows stuck together, and he-sort of- confirms that in the disc extras. "Blood and Chrome", I thought was a great pilot, and if they had kept that standard up, or better, then it would have been really good. But, we live in the era of the number crunchers, the beancounters, the people with no vision, and it's sad.
@sonofcy9 жыл бұрын
***** The really tragic thing for me was that BSG revealed some fine junior actors amongst its extensive ensemble. They plus the main stars got to stretch themselves with meaty characters and dialogue. Instead of being treated like walking talking props as they so very often are by main studio productions. There is little about now to give them that kind of freedom. The only one I can think of at the moment is "Outlander", yet another Ron production.
@Toolpusher9 жыл бұрын
sonofcy I haven't seen Outlander, although it's set in, and much of it is made here in Scotland. Ronald D. Moore's bearing on the project would impose a certain level of quality though, right from the start. :)
@sonofcy9 жыл бұрын
It is not a book I would read - heavily liked by women though, most of its fans are hardcore - but again the ensemble is large, excellent and you can see that they are enjoying it. The performances are some of the finest I've seen since BSG and some of the episodes truly are brutal. Much more so than BSG. Again McCreary shines with the musical score. If you like BSG, there is a good chance you will like Outlander. However to watch it in the UK you will have to watch it on Amazon Prime or take the "Avon" route.
@DoctorWhoFTW11 жыл бұрын
Even with both, there's no way they could have fought them all off. The only way they won was because of the surprise of the Pegasus; if they'd started out together, there would be no saving either of them. They couldn't risk losing both ships, leaving the fleet defenseless altogether. I have never seen a scene more badass than that one, and half the credit goes to the music. Holy HELL were there some amazing decisions that I'm so happy they made. Okay, nerding out over. Love the video, dude.

The more I think about it, the jump into the atmosphere makes me think of the Apollo program and here's why. Only Humans could get away with some effed up stunt like that. If people really knew how primitive the Apollo spacecraft were, they'd understand. I say this jokingly, but that is why no hostile aliens have invaded Earth. You do not screw around with people crazy enough to make this shit work. The Cylons were too close to humans to get the memo.

Robert Milton The human race gets across land by setting off hundreds of explosions within a metal coffin with wheels. We achieved flight by setting fire to highly explosive fuel and squirting it behind us. Our Space program involved sticking ourselves on the end of a nuclear missile and aiming roughly in the destination, and our method of combat consists of "make holes in them until they stop working". That's why the aliens anal probe us, they want to find out how to get gigantic balls too.
