This review doesn't even mention Jake Rogers, a.k.a Shield Anvil, and is still full of high praise. That alone should tell you how incredible this album is.

This record is amazing, easy 4.5/5 and one of my favorites of the year! Nice to see you on the channel again Sarah :)
@mikeb48582 жыл бұрын
Excellent review! Sarah usually finds the best stuff. The Good: convincingly gushes about the music for almost 6 minutes The Bad: "Fuck you if you're a NSBM edgelord" This why Sarah rules.

Denver absolutely crushing metal in the last couple years: stormkeep, KHEMMIS, blood incantation, black curse, wayfarer, spectral voice
@ceilingsintheireyes62882 жыл бұрын
I only just listened to this the other day and I’ve already listened to it about 5 or 6 times. Absolutely phenomenal. It would have been in my top few albums of the year last year if I’d listened to it earlier. I’m now desperate to get my hands on the vinyl when the repress comes out!

Honestly, it's pretty rare that black metal appeals to me, but Stormkeep definitely does it for me. Glad you told me about them, this album's great!

Check out Wode - Burn in many Mirrors. Blayne actually reviewed it. Edit: Belay that. That album and this one sounds nothing alike
@DewtehDew2 жыл бұрын
I agree with Russ, check out Wode - Burn in many mirrors. Also, if you like trash, there’s a few great blackened trash bands. That’s how I’m getting into black metal. Wraith - undo the chains Bewitcher - cursed by thy kingdom Just to name a couple.
@CorpusCallosotomy2 жыл бұрын
@@DewtehDew I did pick up that Wode album earlier this year, and you're right it's killer. I'm also a big blackened thrash guy, I actually just saw Bewitcher and Wraith this past month when they came through Chicago, I love them both.

Great to see you back Sarah and thanks for bringing this album to my attention. Not sure how it had passed me by. LOVE the Windir (RIP) elements, surprised no mention of Dawn in any of the comments. More than a touch of their classic 'Slaughtersun'.

Another great black metal album released recently is the new Dauþuz. Both of these records could honestly be my top 5 BM albums of the year, and they're both released within the same week and they're both, of course, amazing!

This sounds really good. I've been interested in checking this album out since it showed up in my recommendations from the Black Metal Promotion KZbin channel. Probably won't listen to it until after the year is over since I don't want to go through the headache of changing around my best albums of the year list like I had to when I recently listened to the Converge & Chelsea Wolfe, Turnstile, and Billie Eilish albums.

Fantastic record, and given the lineup, it's easy to see why. Probably my joint favourite album of the year (along with IOTUNN's "Across All Worlds"). Really enjoy what they've done within the black metal format. It's epic, fantastical, even fun and catchy without straying too far into the realm of cheesiness. A WIZARD! WISE AND POWERFUL!

Comforting and anthemic is right on the money. Good review. I really like this album because it reminds me of some of those older BM albums but adds its own modern edge. And it's just such good fun. Look forward to the next one.
