I'm Kayleigh and along with my two dogs Hugo and Coco we will full time on board our 57ft narrowboat Slievenamon. My second Narrowboat which I am currently in the process of renovating. I'm working on making the inside liveable before tackling the many exterior projects and maintenance this boat is more than ready for!

For my tiny dog I bought a life jacket. It's orange velcro's on it has a handle that is over their back.& a leash attachment point. Quality made you can use the carry handle to ez lift dog in or out of boat plus if a big dog etc comes at them you can very fast lift them out of harms way like a purse. Before used this I found a shallow boat ramp & I got I'm the water carrying dog & when it was deep enough for their feet not to touch bottom...all awhile rubbing them talking soothing I removed my hands & she automatically swam make sure no waves or etc.. holding them over the water in the air they will start paddling legs. Train them one at a time. Take dog out with you close to them for longer periods, because they can fall off so fast & at least they won't panic giving you time to retreated them....have a boat hook pole at each end of you boat & a pole net. If they have life jacket on run hook through the jackets handle. Whenever you are on boat with doors open keep those jackets on the & when on docks .

When you're canopies are dry spray them with outdoor Scotch guard, tie wrap a few canes here and there to stop the sagging until you get it sorted, maybe a inflatable neck brace that you get on long haul flights for the dog's life jacket

Hi glad to know you are ok. Just a thought get a couple or three of bungies and add them together around your cover,that should stop them flapping so much at least until you get a new one fitted. Might not look so good but if they allow you a decent night’s sleep that’s all that matters.

Have you ever thought of making your boat a remote control boat? Reggie of Narrowboat 'Tin Slugg' is a solo boater and he has created a remote control for his boat. It makes going through locks a bit easier if you're on your own or even if your not. Just thought I'd pass on the information. Take care and happy boating ~ Lacy

Hello Kayleigh. Loved your latest Vlog and the picture postcard scenes of the snow in the marina. We are an Australian couple planning a live aboard adventure starting next year. One of us will be working via the internet full time. How do you find coverage when you are cruising? On the Narrowboat Chef channel they seem to do speed tests while they are cruising to determine if a spot is good to moor up (and get coverage). Is this what you do too? Generally are gaps in coverage big, such that you need to cruise for a couple of days to get through them, or smaller, just needing a couple of hours?

Funny story about a dog on a boat my friend spent 18months fitting out his brand new boat with his rotti in the boat with him all the time when the boat was put in the water the dog was happy in the boat but when he started the engine the dog made a unstoppable charge for the door and would never go back in the boat if the engine was running so whenever he had to move the boat he had to get somebody to walk with the dog along the towpath very annoying as he was single and lived on his own

I know how you feel!!! We live in the mountains in So Cal and the storms keep us up all night as well. We aren't bouncing around but there are branches, huge pine cones, etc. that fall on our roof all night long. When the winds get up the noise is so loud that it keeps you awake. It blows stuff around your yard and if you forget to put away a trash can or something, it will go flying. We also have to go outside with our small dogs as we have had them attacked by coyotes and racoons in the past, so they aren't safe, even in our own fenced in yard. But like you said, most of the time it is beautiful and that is the same here. It's a rough night but then you are rewarded with beautiful scenery.

Lovely video! What is the tree blanketed with snow and it had red clumps of some sort! What kind of tree is that? We enjoy watching your progress on the boat and your little fellas. Hope you're managing to stay warm on the boat. It seemed eerily quiet in the marina but the snow topped boats was almost a picture postcard, surrounded by the autumn colours. My Q&A. What made you decide on Mercia marina for winter moorings, as I've heard that it's quite expensive there and further away from work. Was it down to availability? Steve PS. Love your videos always find them so inspirational - a question that always puzzles me is that I see quite a few vloggers who live aboard in a Marina and yet when i look around it seems that most marinas do not offer this option but instead you can moor there and spend a few nights every now and again aboard but not actually live there ?
