KSS truly is a technical tour de force. It's up there with Super Metroid, Mario 64, you name it. I've loved following this game over the years watching great runners like 0xwas, usedpizza, and a ton more. Yotta is absolute GOAT material. Happy to see you shine some light on it!

It really is. It's unfortunate it doesn't have as large of a speedrun community as those games do but that's part of the charm.

@@nippo4512True, i'd still call it one of the more popular speedgames, or at least it was back in the SRL days. Hell, i threw up a sub 2hr hundo run quite a few years ago, even bought a J cart before the SD2SNES could run it lol. I love the movement so much. This game is just a blast!

Kirby Super Star is such a great game and it's awesome there are people still running it. I always found the movement in the original so... distinct. I just like it the best. I'm so fascinated by folks playing it this sharply also. I enjoy the speedruns and LOVED the 4 player race they did at Games Done Quick that one year. Anyway, FANTASTIC video!!! Thanks so much!

The biggest surprise for me is discovering that Kirby in KSS has a 1/8 chance to drop his ability when taking damage, when I play it it feels like 90%

Wheel's probably my favorite copy ability, and its helper form probably my favorite helper to use in Super Star (more so in Ultra as that's the version I played but alas). Nice to see both used well here. At least in GCO.

Wow, really great video. I figured I'd be entertained but I didn't expect something so comprehensive. I reckon you could use this to learn how to run the game yourself. I used to watch 100% of this game all the time, one of my all time favorites. I remember runners would wear down the rubber beneath their dpad from charging up plasma so much.

3:36 Although I started with the original (via Kirby's Dream Collection on Wii), I'm more used to Super Star Ultra now. I'm genuinely surprised that Spring Breeze isn't needed to unlock Milky Way Wishes on SNES. In the DS version, all that's unlocked by default is Spring Breeze and three touchscreen mini-games. Doing some research, beating Green Greens (not even necessarily all of Spring Breeze) is apparently enough to unlock Gourmet Race, Dyna Blade, and Great Cave Offensive. But the same source also claims that unlocking Milky Way Wishes requires you to "Complete all prior sub-games", so you still have to at least clear Spring Breeze. Not sure if you can skip Gourmet Race on DS. Point is, I thought the SNES version required you to clear Spring Breeze, Great Cave Offensive, and Revenge of Meta Knight to unlock Milky Way Wishes.

I actually did defeat the boss before the Halberd took off in the remake. The outcome of the fight really doesn't change anything. Kirby still gets launched off the ship.

IIRC, it should not be attempted on real hardware, and is likely banned.

What you're referring to is an old emulator bug. It's due to poor SA-1 emulation, so when the game loads entities under heavy strain it may load the incorrect ones, hence random Nova / Marx fights (the Nova/Marx entity would be loaded instead of a common enemy)

It's really not awkward. If somebody tells you they are a woman/man, the pronouns follow from that. If somebody is nonbinary or otherwise uses less typical pronouns, then it will be unique enough to solidify in your mind easily. If you find it awkward there is a part of you still considering her as "male" in some way or another. That is the part of you that you must examine and modify. Telling people their existence is awkward for you is pretty bad form in general too. We don't need to hear that shit all the time.
