[Story 142] Planting pechay, harvesting pigeon peas(kardis) and other vegetables in my garden!

The (Hanging Amihan)Northeast monsoon still blows the Philippines right now. This results to a colder climate and cloudier skies in the country. I don't know why but I really love this kind of weather. I love going to my garden and plants vegetables during these days.
Today, I planted pechay. I put compost to the vegetable bed first to grow the pechay healthy even without synthetic fertilizers. I harvested pigeon peas or kardis in our local language. I also picked luffa squash (kabatiti) and bitter gourd (parya) for dinner. I cooked pinakbet and sauteed luffa squash with pigeon peas and sotanghon.

Looks delicious! Pidgeon peas used to be popular in the US, about 100 years ago, before the preference for processed food took over the country. I've never seen fresh pidgeon peas before, though.
