I got cut in freshmen in the first tryout because I started telling my self that I got cut. I also got cut in my sophomore which it is shocking because a lot of people who tryout thought I was going to make. I thought was going to make because I did great at tryouts. And since then I have been working on my game in the rec center. Playing basketball with grown men and that makes me more of a competitor

IJustLuv2Hoop same bro, some of my friends say that I have potential making the high school team because they think I’m a pretty good shooter. However, they said I wasted it due to my lack of confidence. I can’t build confidence because my rough past experiences, but I can’t give up in ball. Me trying out to make the Hs team is like Lebron working to win a championship against other teams when he was in the cavs in 2018. I would cry if I make my Hs team for once.

My story is fucking sad bro, I try out my sophomore yr got cut, try out jr year got cut, then my sr year the roster was full and they only took 3 people. Unfortunately I didn’t make it. The coach has favoritism. The team captain didn’t even show to try outs at all and he still on the team. At the end of day I invested all my time and energy and every single year I buy basketball shoes to play with, I did all of that for nothing. What I learn throughout those try outs years is that you have to take a advantage before it gets harder. I’m still sad about that smh, this was in 2013 my sr year.

I tried out my senior year at my high school and got cut. Ironically in college the assistant coach of a Division 1 school I went to was interested in trying me out. So he gave me a personal tryout skills assessment, and I didn't make the team due to lack of stamina. It was Manhattan College Jaspers team I had come close to making it onto. My skills with dribbling and shooting was beyond back then. So I failed at completing one of the intense running suicide style drills with the ball. I simply ran out of breath, and suffered from muscle fatigue.

Yeah I guess at that division I school they had certain physical fitness requirements to make the team. I was close though, but no cigar for me :) I never quit I still practice to this day at 41.
@virtual_intel7 жыл бұрын
KBTITAN-24 It was a D1 school and they were looking at me since I was a freshmen. I went to Manhattan College. I used to practice in the gym like 6 hours a day each school year all year round. My skills accelerated as the years progressed and after getting basketball drill help from a few ballers that learned them from basketball camp. My personal tryout was given to me in my Junior year of college. So it actually took 3 years for the assistant coach to select me. They knew me as I was cross training with the team my freshmen year. I had the balls to ask the head coach if I could run with them each morning of the teams preseason work out sessions. However, I wasn't even a walk on, nor on the team, nor did I have a scholarship. Just was a gym rat as they call non team member ballers.

I'm from London. I tried out for the basketball team in Year 7 and didn't make it. I asked my parents if I can tryout for Year 8 but they said no and that I should wait until Yr 10 to tryout. Year 10 came and the coach knew that I was good enough so I was automatically on the team. However after my first TWO games my parents said I can't play for the team no more to focus on my GCSEs even though during the time whilst I was on the team I got an A* in my maths GCSE. I got so angry that I sneaked to practices and games but my brother found out and told my parents. After that it's been an argument about career choices between pro ball and accounting.

Hey Dre so I use to play basketball I didn't play organize basketball since 5th grade we had this like "little league basketball team" and I did pretty good there so on 6th grade I tried out for the middle school team and I didn't make it ever since then my love for basketball wasn't the same I moved on and played football now I'm a freshman and I'm starting to get that love and passion for basketball again it's and I want to tryout next year is it too late? And do you have any advice

I know I could’ve made the basketball team my freshman because I’ve been playing basketball since 2nd grade and have been on 2 travel teams but my mom won’t let me try out because she says I’m not good enough even though I know I am what should I do.

Do u think u can go D1 by only playing 1 year on high school basketball team & travel for a year?
@DreB9 жыл бұрын
That's not enough info to answer that. What matters is what you do *when* you played, not how many years you played. And you'll know how you played so you'll have a clear understanding of what you can do, better than anyone else

I got cut all 4 of my years and I'm a senior this year but I want to get some experience because I want to play for a dv2 college any ideas.

Lucky ass. I wish the coach would just roll the ball out, let us show our talent. We gotta do pointless shit like the 3 man weave
@DreB6 жыл бұрын
3 man weave isnt pointless. one useful point is to find out which players don't take it serious, they're the easiest ones to cut first. only bums claim "luck" when they come up short. take ownership of your results, regardless of what the coach says/does. no excuses.
