Oh man this is heartbreaking. I am saving up to buy my first Sail boat. An to see all these abandoned boats sinking is killing me. I'd do anything for one of those.

Come here! Some of them are still recueable like 'Buen Futuro' and many more that people will sell for cheap. Most of them require tons of work but if you are willing to learn and do most of it yourself, than you can end up with a pretty nice boat for not that much money and a priceless amount of know how 😊 Or look around in your area unfortunately there is many abandoned boats all around 😢 Best of luck on your quest hope you'll find 'the one' !⛵❤️

Just a tip from our experience there is no such thing as a boat that doesn't need work 😉 But we hope you find one that needs very little 😊

@svoiysh lol. Yes u r correct. I was being wishful. I'll rephrase that. A boat in the best ready to sail condition as possible. With very little work needed to go sailing for long periods of time.

This one really was such an emotional quest, well done for putting that across so well. So sad to see boats like this. I can't help but think of all the resources that went into their construction and fit out, wasted (terrible!), when all around on the shore poor people watch their beautiful home used as a dumping ground for things others no longer want or care about.* sigh* *shakes head sadly* Thank you both for trying to save at least one from the junk pile, it shows your good hearts and that you care for our world and the less fortunate. No it's wasn't a happy ending, but there are many others in that anchorage that did nothing. You tried to make a difference, and that's what counts. I like the idea of putting together a "mission". Go there with the gear and materials and do all the wrecks. I have everything required. Maybe get the locals involved in the process. If you float 2 hulls. Then you can raise 1 sunken hull from them. So on and so forth. The local people are more likely to care and respect something more, that they worked on and enjoyed the success of their sweat. Than if it is given/gifted to them. If they could earn some money in the process, even better. At a minimum the bay would be cleaned up. As I was watching your video. I was thinking that the water pumped out would not likely be very salty. Filter it and put it through the power washers. Clean the boat exterior as she rises. Then clean the interior.

That would be awesome if you actually have all the equipment and are willing to come here we will assist you in any way we can. For sure Buen Futuro would also need new bulkheads at least but that can be done as for the sunken ones it's hard to say what the state is. The only thing worth taking into account is that the bottom in the bay is very muddy ( silt washing out of the river with every rain) so the visibility is pretty poor. Call me crazy , but small camping generator maybe, then I thought maybe this was some sort of parody? But anyway try planning a little more in the future, like rent a generator or 2 or 3 batteries leave the pump on the boat with a automatic switch and a temporary solar panel to power it , also hand pump to compliment the electric one . It doesn’t have to be completely empty to tow it to a safer location. Plan plan plan make lists of all possible circumstances that you can think of, that could go wrong. Your brain is your best tool use it.

Thank you for your comment😊 Absolutely if the situation was more dramatic then we would first organize a generator and a heavy duty crush pump ( like we have done before with another boat ) 😉 but in this case it was a slow process so we could easily just do it over a couple of days with no rush and that part went good 😊. We didn't tow her to a different location as it was in this one for a while and the setup was holding well ( been through many squalls) so it was decided that the anchor is dug in really well and it doesn't make sense to move her. Unfortunately that might have been the mistake but I don't think moving it to a different location other then marina would have changed anything the blow was just to strong for the setup. We try to always plan ahead and take into account all possibilities but at the end you cannot foresee everything 😉 Our friend wanted to deal with the paperwork first which I can understand you want to be sure it's your boat before you start investing in new ground tackle or marina fees and unfortunately the timing wasn't quite right for a happy ending. But it's still salvageable so maybe someone will take on the project.😊

Hi, I saw your film and I wanted to ask you where it is in Panama, what the place is called and then to drive the sailing yacht, first to get the sail afloat and to tow the gentleman to a marina and then to the insurance company. for the tow to the Netherlands and then transfer from the USA to the Netherlands

Hi it's in Linton Bay ( Puerto Lindo/Garrote) there is a marina in the bay and another one just behind the corner ( Panamarina). So after taking it of the shallows it would be relatively easy to get her out of the water. Unfortunately we don't know any insurance companies in the area. If you have any more questions ask away we'll try to help as much as we can 😊

From the information we have yes if the boat is drifting, sinking or wrecked and you can prove you rescued it you can legally claim it. I think the details will probably differ from country to country and there are some fees involved for the paperwork . Here in Panama additionally you have to then register the boat in Panama at least at first. Best to contact a lawyer for all the details on the procedure but I think with a bit of persistence it's absolutely doable. Sorry to hear about your situation hope you can stay safe! GUYS, there are a lot of places where there are such abandoned yachts AND OTHER FLOATING EQUIPMENT - the Panama Canal area is just one of them... ..... just take note - RESTORING SUCH YACHT - it will require not only money (and this is not a problem), BUT OR LONG WORK WITH YOUR OWN HANDS or by professionals... And then, AS YOU KNOW, yachts are made from very different materials - FIBERGLASS AND EPOXY are one thing, but ALUMINUM OR WOOD is completely different... and so on and so forth...

Your absolutely right it's unfortunate but there is a lot of yachts in similar condition 😔 Definitely restoring a boat like this takes a lot of work and money but if someone decides to do it themselves the amount of learning is priceless 😉 We learned a ton restoring our boat and still learning every day 😊 The boat from the video is fiberglass and polyester so it's pretty easy in terms of repair and upkeep if someone decides to take it on as a project ⛵
