JUSTIN!!!!! This was EXQUISITE! I felt like I was on that walk WITH you. The way you engage your audience is simply phenomenal. I always think I've watched my favorite video of yours and then you go an post a new one. I will be watching this one a few times. Also, I've driven by that sculpture in Griffith Park a bunch of times but now I'll appreciate it even more. Wonderful job.

Im not even nearly done and I already think this is my favorite episode ever! Poor Mrs Rush, I don’t want to live in a world where the old dear was oblivious to what was going on down that hill. In such a beautiful, interesting neighborhood, you are the best part of this video, Justin.

You just made my day with this! Thank you Shawn to much. Think about the things we will NEVER know, the things that didn't make the papers. What if Mrs. Rush had wilder parties? lolol

Around minute 47, I guess when old movies show the social pages, 'Mr & Mrs So in So did this or that,' makes sense now. They really did that. 😉 Thank you for your research and preserving these old histories. I love them.

I'm blown away by your story telling ability. This was one of my favorite neighborhoods to wander. It used to be (as I hope now) that people offered coffee and cookies when I asked when their beautiful home was built. ❤❤❤❤

Thank you! Wait? Tell me more about walking around this neighborhood and the coffee and cookies! Did two people serve?

@TheJustinRootShow I was so polite and friendly then!! They were outside just clipping or cleaning and we sat at a little table and went back in time, my favorite time, the 1920s!! I don't know who they were or where exactly the house was but I can tell you it could have been only 900 Sq feet or less! I dream of living there. You bring this all back to me!! 1982-83 and able to walk up and down those hills!! Oh, good cookies, Hydrox so much better than Oreos!!

This reminds me - we still need to Ted Healy tour. I think that's a story that could use your personal touch. I'm so glad you touched on it here a little in discussing Beaty Healy's home.

Love this tour! The houses are so charming. We almost never see a car go by. You must shoot very early in the day.

@@claudiamannion8141 Thank you! I purposely film on street cleaning days so that you don't see parked cars, and I wait until none are driving by. 😂😂

I'm loving this tour! I never heard that story about Jacques Tourneur! He's one of my favorite classic era directors. Cat People, I Walked With a Zombie, Night of the Demon among others.

The actor being pursued in the last scene of this video was Frank Sutton, Sgt. Carter in the old "Gomer Pyle USMC" series. I guess this was a scene from the "Naked City" series.
@TheJustinRootShow3 сағат бұрын
Yes that's right. Not sure if you saw the caption but it WAS from "Naked City," an epsiode from 1961.

Back in (1975) I had no problem going up that elevator..and down again. I saw the movie "The Long Goodbye" and decided to go visit. And lo and behold..no problem. But.today, forget it.

And like that it was over. Another great video. What a unique and amazing area. Architecture is so boring and derivative now.
