Story of Saint Imelda Lambertini | Stories of Saints
Saint Imelda Lambertini (1322-1333) was an Italian Catholic saint who lived during the Middle Ages. At the age of eleven, Imelda expressed a desire to enter the Dominican Order, but she was deemed too young. She continued to live a holy life and, on the Feast of the Ascension in 1333, while praying before the Eucharist, she experienced a vision of a gleaming Host. As she reached out to receive it, she died. She was canonized as a saint in 1740 by Pope Benedict XIV and is considered the patron saint of first communicants. Her feast day is celebrated on May 12th.
