In Canada you are required to disclose information to your accessibilities councillors and if you have placements your instructors as well. Also in some provinces there are government issued ID tags and in every province you need a doctors signature on a letter that explains the service dogs reason for being there 🙃 The ADA is awesome 👏 ❤️
@dallastheservicedoodle72363 жыл бұрын
Honestly that’s a lot of stuff that’s required but that also makes it a bit harder for people to fake a service dog. The ADA is so great but the only problem is that it’s to great about protecting people’s privacy that anyone can get around the laws 🤦🏼♀️

You should do a video on how a service dog and help with anorexia! I think that would be a great video, since not many people know that you can have one for an eating disorder. But this is of course if you’re comfortable
@dallastheservicedoodle72363 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea! I definitely will plan on making a video that goes a lot more in depth about what anorexia is (how it affects me) and the things my dog does to help me during a time of distress. 😁

Such an interesting story. That’s awesome about the timing of Dallas‘s birth and her breed and temperament worked out so well for you. Sometimes not knowing the rules and therefore not following them if it works out the best for you in the long run. It’s funny you say that about wanting a German Shepherd but decided to hold off on it since it was your first time because that’s exactly how I felt when we begin to guide dog breeds.

My therapist recommended me to get an ESA or service dog. I'm opting for service dog as I also have a physical disability along with my metal ones. However my main barrier is that I really don't feel "worthy" of a service dog. Seeing all the major disabilities people have that really mess up their lives make me feel so small. To sum it up I have PTSD, anxiety of all sorts, SEVERE phobia of medical places and injections (like breaking down and worrying about it for weeks if I knew it could possibly be coming. Also this really sucks as due to some physical conditions I have to be in medical places often. I have severe trauma from both dentist offices and hospitals/doctors offices), and some minor physical things. It's difficult to stand in one place for more than a minute, climb stairs, get up from the floor, walk for a while, etc. I don't know if those merit me for a service dog, but as a former second owner of a service dog who would handle said dog lots of the time I really feel like it would benefit me. However it's only my mom and brother and I, and we are in a difficult place. I don't want to go into details but lots of trauma (attempted murder, stalking, etc) and a nasty divorce happened. My mom earns a lot of money but being a single mom it's still difficult. (I'm 13, for context). Any advice?

My Goldendoodle Patty fell into my life at a good time also. My previous trainee washed and was returned to the shelter and I got a call the next day from a trainer about two puppies through a breeder. I did not know at the time how bad this breeder was. Patty and her sister were 8 weeks old and so smelly. Patty had the better scores on the temperament test. She had not been vaccinated or wormed like the breeder said. Her breeder was jailed for animal cruelty not to much later. Patty looks just like your girl. She started more appricot as a pup but turned to a cream except the ears, they stayed dark. I also do a clean face as well as clean feet. Its great when even the not so good situation turns out a great partner.

do you have to be the on to train the dog or can you get a fully trained service dog (train it a bit?)
@dallastheservicedoodle7236 Жыл бұрын
You can do either. Training your own dog is one option that a lot of people prefer. But there are programs that you can buy a dog from that they will train for you. Those programs often are very expensive and have long wait lists. But training your own can also be expensive and take a lot of time as well. So there are pros and cons to both options you just have to choose the one that is best for u

I had a question. I don't have a service dog, though I may qualify for one. I was just wondering if I was going to take my dog into a place that allows pets, like Home Depot or something, is it ok if I have a service dog patch that says Do Not Pet on its harness? I'm kind of a OCD germaphobe and I don't want strangers touching my dog because I would feel 'compelled' to give it a bath when we got home if someone pet it, but I know too much washing isn't good for dog skin... so?
@dallastheservicedoodle72362 жыл бұрын
Having a do not pet patch on your dog would be fine. It just can’t say service dog unless it’s a service dog. But lots of people will get vests or patches that tell people “do not to pet”, or “not dog friendly” or “I’m fearful”.
