From an engineering perspective, AEGs are such a nightmare. I once did a school project trying to conceptualize an AEG gearbox shell for an AN94 in CAD and my god I just thought to myself how painful it would be to assemble or tech The fact of the matter is AEG gearboxes are horribly overengineered because of the form factor restrictions of real guns. There once was a time when AEGs were MORE expensive than real steel for this very reason. I feel a big reason AEGs have gotten less expensive was because 1) the technology hasn't changed for 20-30 years and 2) Asian manufacturers started to use shittier metals (as if the metallurgy wasn't shit enough) to cut costs; how else do you explain how plastic TM guns are more expensive than metal Chinese guns of the same design? You're doing God's work here btw

Glad you showed her in that vid a month ago! She was beautiful and my condolences! My vfc melted a 9.6 cause of that damn QRS stock! Same as that one on that customers gun, the very day I bought it. I lent it to a buddy for the evening and all he did was just adjust the stock in and out a few times to figure out what position he likes. The connectors in the buffer tube slipped off enough to short and it took him bout 10 secs to realize what was goin on. Heard him callin my name from the other side of the building we were holding down and by the time I got over it was smoking like crazy. I was goin to give it a once over that night anyway but that’s a lesson learned for buying a gun to play with the same day. I get the concept of the QRS stock, but to me it’s just gimmicky as Fūk.

On your question why people are buying VFCs, I can say that, when I was looking for AEG, I was looking for comments, forums, reviews, etc. on what brands offer stable, good quality mid-tier guns, that would not require any additional tinkering out of the box. Can't compare my VFC Avalon Rapier to any other gun as it is my first, but it's definitely not the "out of the box" experience I was hoping for. Love your videos btw

Out of the box with high capa magazine - on full auto 2 second burst my HK416 A5 jammed and when I took it to the shop I bought it the warranty was not effective as there is no warranty on moving parts. Shop tech installed new piston ( teeth broke ) and 2 new gears as they were sheared. So a new EXPENSIVE gun that i have shot for 30 seconds and already have to upgrade it :D from stock. My first airsoft experience :D Thanks UMAREX! (No jamming rod in BOX or cleaning kit ) Anyways swaping out umarex v2 gearbox to gate v2 gearbox

My guess on the oversized holes and the glue: The bearings were spinning and they oversized the holes, then "whoever" tried to solve it by glueing them. I built a gun for myself just yesterday, because... yeah, I needed to work on something without pressure.

This rant is everyhting I went threw in October of 2019 with my shitty Avalon. I tried swapping out slew of parts to try to fix my semi isssues. One of a jg wireset, two modify wire sets, a retro arms cut off lever, a vfc cut off lever and wireset. A jg, shs and g&g cut of lever and to no avail. I tried to shim that witch to perfection and tried 4 or 5 times to get the heat issues to go away. Swapped put several motors. Tried correcting pinion to bevel alignment. And for the life of me the gun just would not yield any better result. Its a bit like having a really ungrateful and abusive partner who no matter how much work you put into it and sacrifice, they are still being bitchy and staunch. Seriously VFC you need to get your QC and RD up because if you continue like this, you’ll sink.

I want to build an Avalon as an aeg so I can swap the uppers und lowers. In Germany we are restricted to semi auto only if the gun has more than 0,5 joule. Is it a “ok” gun if I swap every internal part out except for the gearbox? I want to play it with about 1,5 joule and I like the idea of switching between aeg and hpa. Money isn’t a factor. G&G man...! They’re gluing in the wires and bearings now too! If i’m correct they’ve partnered up with VFC correct? I upgraded another KZbinrs ARP9 and also bought myself one after which i have a post for on my channel. You should watch it because i talk about many of the same things you have in your newest video which has over 7.3k views in just one Facking night, which is incredible mate! But the point is when i took his box apart sure enough the wires were glued all around the box and the bearings didn’t move or fall out,as i checked why there were only shims on one side. So it turned out they are gluing down the bearings and adding shins to the top only now. Mine was the exact same way too! It’s ftom the factory and i believe it’s to keep people from messing with the gearbox and which ever idiot made this decision thinks glueing down everything will keep the wires from marring or something. Please check out my “EVIKE STAY AT HOME ARP9 BOX” so you can hear the piston smashing against the box. On the custom gun i built i talk about how i radius the front and how i know those gearboxes are going to crack very soon after. Like you i have a huge collection and care about all my pieces so i take care of them. I’ve never broken a piece except for the Umarex KWC USP not the KWA version. I’ve had 3 of them crack within 90 shots and have a post showing this happen with a brand new one breaking in slow motion while not being as you would say...”a cunt”. It’s called “Slo mo of hardest kicking GBBP cracking” Pleas check it out it’s short.

Sorry to hear about Amber mate. Please could you recommend a motor and battery combo for a vfc avalon. I'm seriously debating swapping out the gearbox for a retro arms. And fitting modify gears.

My VFC (sold under socom gear in 2013) had its bushings superglued in place.

I think the reason you're getting more VFCs is because of how hard they're being marketed. VFCs used to be well understood as "shit internals, sexy externals", and so anyone with a brain wouldn't pay the price unless they were hell-bent on having the externals and were already somewhat tech savvy and involved in forums, so they were aware of the risk. The new Avalon series seems awesome on paper. Krytac competitor, right? krytacs are already overpriced, yet popular, so VFC saw the opportunity. They shilled these things out to every retailer on the planet. I really hope they take a sales hit from this shit. Avalons are so fucking prevalent at the fields around me (Chicago, IL). Nearly everyone over 18 at my fields either has an Avalon, krytac, or ares amoeba. This is no exaggeration.

Also, as a personal anecdote, when I was 14 and didn't have any of my own money to spend on airsoft, I always wanted a VFC. 10 years later, getting re-involved in airsoft, I remembered the name and it's reputation. It seemed like the new internals were up to snuff. My thought is that I'm not the only one with this mindset, so in addition to growth of the sport's popularity in the last decade, it's a perfect time for VFC to become a big name. Like how old American men think of getting a Corvette after getting a stiffy about them in their youth, just to be outrun on the track by a BMW sedan.

It's a massive factor, if I took Nuprol in for work I'd be pleased to see a VFC but because I view nuprol as a disposable gun I don't take them in. It's not economically viable.
