I slipped into postpartum depression after the birth of the twins because I dint love the way my body looked esp the belly. With my older 2 kids, I was used to the snap backs, exercising 1 month postpartum, tying my stomach and having my body back in shape in no time opposed to what I went through after the twins birth. At
5 months postpartum I still looked like I was 4 months pregnant and the pressure of getting back into shape kept on kicking in because I thought I might never get my body back and every time I would look into the mirror, all I could see was ugliness. Yet my body needed the rest, it needed me to appreciate all the amazing things it had done for me in those 8months of carrying 2 hearts beats.

Yes, postpartum depression is real and it hits many postnatal mothers unknowingly. It may come about due to so many reasons and many mothers suffer silently or feel like they have to continue keeping it together as part of being a "new mum".
Some mothers don't know what exactly is going on and postpartum depression is the last thing they will think about because "depression" is a BIG, sad, word to put on oneself.

Sadness, guilty thoughts, feeling upset, frequent crying spells, feeling unhappy or looking down on yourself as a mom are usually among the first signs of postpartum depression.

Postpartum depression does go away on it's own within 3 months but some women suffer with it for 1-3yrs and for some it can appear 3-6months after childbirth.
Ladies, seek medical help or confine in someone about what you are going through
