Yes, every time the Sanatan Dharma came under vituperative attack from other faiths/religions, a great person, a great sage of unparalleled intellect, erudication, courage and mastery takes birth. Two such instances in the last 1200 years are marked by the birth of Adi Sankaracharya (7th Century) and Swami Vivekananda (19th Century). Thus, this eternal dharma is protected and preserved through ages.

Interesting story 👍. Some details needs to he checked - Veda Vyasa is the one and only Krishna Dwaipayana - he got the title veda vyasa because he sorted the vedas. Vyasa means sorting or categorizing. But he lived during Mahabharata in Dwabara yugam which is more than 5000 years back where as kumarila battar and Adhi Shankarar lived in 8th century. Adhi Shankara debating with Veda Vyasar is doubtful. It was Jaimini maharishi was one of the 4 disciples of Veda Vyasar who wrote the purva mimasa Sutra (from sruti to smriti). Sabara wrote commentary on it Kumarila battar only wrote his version of Sabara’s commentary.

Veda Vyasa means the one who sorted the vedas- there is one and only who lived in Dwabara yuga about 5350 years back but Adhi Shankara lived in 800 AD. How is that veda vyas become the guru for Adhi Shankar. Adhi Sankara’s guru was Govind Baghavadpada. But this version of the story is different
