This helps me a lot. Thank you for this story! I struggle so much with my yoga path currently because I feel I cannot make any progress in overcoming my egoic tendencies. It hurts and I feel very upset and disheartened. But this struggle probably makes me stay much closer to that which I seek than I would be if I were content and everything went smoothly. Success creates pride and pride makes us complacent and idle. So it is actually better for me to feel I am not succeeding, because even though it frustrates me tremendously it keeps my attention on the path. Kind of twisted, but then, nothing in yoga ever is as it seems.

JGD 🙏 what I got from this story is that when we have a guru in our life we should be very very very careful about doing anything wrong. Careful of not letting any bad emotion in ourselves coz when we do something wrong it effects our guru too. He is the one who takes away our sins. Here when God narayana had to except the punishment along with the door keepers so that is something we should be careful of.......and yes that's y also it is said that if we want to give something to the guru then only one thing we have is our smile. Thankyou so much for making us think coz from today onwards I will genuinely take each and every step in my life keeping tthis story in mind.🙏jgd swamiji

I love your stories and I play them for my Knowledge sessions sometimes. But it's hard to access the stories in order on the KZbin account. If there is any way I can have access to the stories in the order they should be told, this will be wonderful. Especially the ones that go in sets, where a few stories are being told in succession. Jgd and lots of love!

I have often wondered what the purpose of hate in my life is.. I used to experience intense aversion towards some members of my family and some have even already passed on but the feeling is still there.. perhaps there is a bigger purpose for it after all.. Jai gurudev and thank you for this illuminating story swamiji

You are so great Swamiji... no words or comments. How enlightening. I scold God and Gurudev many times and have felt so guilty later, sometimes I used to think I can never get enlightened or I must have been an Asura who got born in a great family. How grateful that Gurudev and you have come into even my life and you have picked me up without hesitation in putting your hands in the dirt of our minds. Jgd, missing Him so much

Thank you Swamiji, beautiful story and knowledge. I share a thought with you that came about this story. If someone loves or hates a person / thing and is aware that it is Brahma (the person / thing, the feeling / emotion, desire / aversion, thoughts). If the person knows that all of this is Brahma, then is it the same as feeling it for the divine, it becomes divine? This is very subtle to express, but I think you understand or better that you can clarify this thoughts/ questions. I would like you to comment on, what do you think? Gratitude Jai Gurudev
@SwamiPurnachaitanya
@SwamiPurnachaitanya 4 жыл бұрын
Once someone realizes and experiences that all of this is nothing but that one Brahman or Consciousness, you will not have any such emotions, as there is no duality, which is the basis for any of these emotions. But if you attribute it to the Brahman, then it is the same as attributing it to the Divine... :-)
@anastasme
@anastasme 4 жыл бұрын
So following the logic of this story sons of Brahma are so great Rishis but sometimes - just because someone disrespects them - they would casually curse - even more - they think that Narayana's door is being guarded by some simple uneducated souls and even if that was the case Lord Lord Narayana can not take care of this himself and they have to intervene ... And then Lord Narayana comes and says - sorry, they were disrespectful because they didn't know how cool u r implying that if they were not so evolved then it would be just fine to be disrespectful .. wow, what a weird tarka ;) Stories are great but the plot and logic how the morale is revealed is so far from ordinary logic and so (not) representing the values those evolved souls were allegedly living that one can easily start questioning the morale itself.
@SwamiPurnachaitanya
@SwamiPurnachaitanya 4 жыл бұрын
I think you missed some of the explanation :-). It is explained how their curses was done out of compassion for the doorkeepers and for their benefit. It also showed how subtle and tricky the feeling of pride and ego is, and can crop up even if one is so close to the Divine. There are beautiful lessons in this... :-)
@anastasme
@anastasme 4 жыл бұрын
Swami Purnachaitanya I don’t think I missed an explanation - it just does not seem enough :) One normally does something out of compassion when he is in the state of awareness and not when he has lost it for a moment .. according to the story Rishis didn’t wait too long before they - in the state of desire (!) and an anger - decided to give a lesson. First, it indicates that their status of evolvement has been greatly overrated as they cannot remain equanimous and some desires are still left - even for the divine. Means they had not got it ...there is still some duality left. Secondly, they could have been intelligent enough to understand that while being in anger is not the right time to do any action, not mentioning the cursing. Thirdly, they should have been intelligent enough to understand that any such acts are by extension directed at Narayana himself which is minimum disrespectful. It may be well argued that it is Rishis, who need a lesson of humility to be taught. Fourthly, from the story it seems that they needed a help of Narayana to justify their action what Narayana also does by assuring them that those were acts of compassion which in turn indicates that they might not have been that quick in realising their doing. And since you brought up the analogy of ashram and gates ... I don’t think there are many instances in this world when people who want to see the Guru and are not allowed to do that, later on become angry and thus have better chances in getting in - I would say quite an opposite :) . I am not saying the subtle morale of the story is not clear - it is actually quite straightforward .. I am just saying that the story itself, the scenography - can easily be questioned and we can go on and on debating. Best wishes :)
