I'm from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in southwestern Virginia. When I was about 8 years old, I was playing in a small stream that ran near our house. I stood up and looked across the creek and, on the bank, there stood the most beautiful black, velvety cat with bright yellow eyes. We just stared at one another. I was in awe of this beautiful creature. I don't recall how long I stood there, or who left first, but I went up to the house and excitedly exclaimed to my Mother that I had seen a big, velvery black cat with bright yellow eyes one the hillside, just across the creek. While she said nothing to cause fear in me, she did tell me if I ever saw that cat again, to just stand very still and to be sure not to run away... We never again spoke of the big, beautiful, velvety cat with big, yellow eyes.

Phyllis you and mr. Bucky bring such joy to so many of us. You make us feel like we're visiting with family when we're watching your videos, whether it be recipes or stories and explanations of everyday life. I spend a lot of time alone while my grandkids are in school and daughter and son in law are at work but I'm never lonely because I can turn on my computer and go to your site or tune in to you here on KZbin. Thank you so very much for all the time you give to us, we love you.

I live in southern GA and I also saw a black panther in the middle of the day. It crossed the highway right in front of my car. It was so big that it took up most of the width of one lane of the road. It looked like the panther in Jungle Book. It felt surreal and it made me really think twice about being alone near the woods around here. Great story.

My goodness! Scary! I lived in a 1948 cottage in the forest of northern California, and deer frequented a small creek nearby. At midnight, I went to get something out of my car, and as I bent over the open trunk, I heard that horrible cougar scream! The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I forgot you're not supposed to run! I fled to my open door and slammed it! The next morning, I discovered her tracks close enough to have caught me! Later in the day my neighbor told me a cougar was treed on the next street. I was too scared to go see it! I will never forget that scream! God protected you and me! 🙏✝️💕

I live in east central Indiana. They say there are no cougars here. Just this summer one was spotted on my wooded corner property and ran off into the woods. Then my very next door neighbor has seen it 3 times in the middle of the night. It had to have walked across my property where I live, it too is in the woods. Before that another neighbor had seen it running across the field. So yes, even though they say they are not about, they can be. I plan to put a trail cam back up. My old one quit working. Thanks for telling your story. Sue in Central Indiana

Great story Miss Phyllis. In 1971 when we were kids, I was ten , we went to stay in rural west Texas on our grandpas old farm. Our dad worked away from home all week, and we stayed behind with our mom. There was an active set of train tracks literally not 300 yards from the end of the yard that bordered the property. Since we were young kids, we played outside most of the day. The tracks were hidden by lots of overgrowth. Our mom had told us stories of the "Tramps" who rode the rails when she was a child there, and who would sometimes come up to the back door of the house yo ask for a bite to eat. We were terrified of these stories, imagining the Tramps" as some malevolent humanoid. We stayed clear of the tracks except to occasionally walk along side them on the dirt road that led to my great aunts house in the neighbor behind ours. The first time we spotted it, it was just bigger than a small dog, and it quickly disappeared into the over growth along the tracks. Time went by and we saw it again, only this time it was as big as a large German Shepherd. It swiftly disappeared again, but not before holding our gaze a couple seconds. There was no mistaking; we'd seen an elusive black panther. We told our mom, and she said there'd been stories about panthers there by the river bottoms, but that no one really ever sees them. Well we sure did! In fact my sister and I still have the same memory of it. I'm really glad we didn't have to smell its fetid breath though 😂 Thank you for your great stories. Keep em' coming please. Rose

Our beloved little dog ( chihuahua mix) went out one night to potty and never came back. :( My husband found her mangled body a few hours later; we thought it was a mountain lion that got her, so we called the Wildlife and an officer came out and told us it wasn't a cat because a dog can tree a mountain lion. He once answered a call to find a chihuahua treeing a mountain lion. Further, he said if it had been a cat we never would have found it's body. So, no doubt your neighbor lost her sweet doggie to that panther. I never let our other chihuahua out alone after that tragic and heart breaking experience. Oh...it was a coyote that got our darling girl. :(

I understand completely what you're talking about by seeing a black panther. We had one roaming on our property way out in the country. It looked in our nearest neighbors window and scared the girl. The wildlife game people set a trap and caught it. Since it was fair time it was put on exhibit at our county fair. This happened in the early 1960's. Years later in the early 1990's my oldest daughter saw one with her two cubs crossing the dirt road about 500 feet in front of her. You're right about them not wanting to admit that they're around especially now a days.

This was a great story..and it scared me too. Reminded me of a night in Concord North Carolina. I was driving home with my family it was pretty late at night. I saw something cross the road. It was standing up and it was huge and black and hairy running across the street. I can never forget that. There was another car coming the opposite way on the other side of the road and it ran between our cars going to my right. I want to say it was BIG FOOT. BUT no one has reported anything. Amazing!

Hi Phyllis you look absolutely stunning tonight! Yes mam there are black panthers in the McCormick/Greenwood area. We live right off of hwy 221 and when I was 4 we lived on the end of a gravel road surrounded by woods and egg farm. Out bathroom window was low you could step over and into it. One night my mother went to the bathroom and the windows were up the toilet faced the window. As she sat half asleep and in the dark with only the night light and looked up she saw two big glowing yellow eyes. The ground outside the window was soft and my daddy found paw tracks the next morning. So yes I know they exist. We use to do a lot of camping at Hawe Creek campground in a tent it's a wonder we didn't see one!

I live in a neighbourhood that is close to nature. One night I got up around 3:30 a.m. and looked out of my window towards my driveway. Sitting on my driveway, cool as you please was a cougar! Sitting, it was about 2 to 3 feet in height with a small head and small ears. I can remember saying to myself "wait a minute...that's too big for a domestic cat!" After some time it got up and sauntered down my street. It was the eeriest feeling and I was sure freaked! Thanks for your story....it reminded me to never put my garbage out late at night.

WOW!!! Miss Phyllis, I was afraid to watch that but I am glad that I did. I believe You that You saw a Black Panther! We have Mountain Lions way up North Here where I live in S.D. I live on the Western Part of the state. We are just below the Black Hills National Forest. I grew up in a very nice neighborhood with The Black Hills at the end of Our street. I now live just 8-10 miles outside of Rapid City in Box Elder, S.D. I did grow up in West Rapid City, S.D. In fact, My Husband and I lived in Rapid City until last Fall. Anyway, after a Family further up in The Forest area of The Black Hills had 1 of their little Jack Russel Terriers ate by one of Our Mountain Lions. They could not do anything after that Huge Cat got a hold of their little dog. The lady that lived there; grabbed Her other little dog,(another little Jack Russel Terrier), and had Her Other hand tightly gripped around Her little Granddaughter and ran into Her home. There were more sightings; and now, in Dec.-Jan. We have an annual Mt. Lion Season. Only so many males and females can be shot during a certain amount of time. Thankfully, no Other little animals have been taken. The Most Heartbreaking incident that occurred in The late 80s was a Family driving through a Wildlife Park had a Mt. Lion jump through their Camper window and killed a little 2 year old Girl and Her Grandmother was severely, injured trying to get the little girl out of the Mt. lion's mouth. We are all grateful for that Hunting Season now. Thank GOD, no Other Person or Children have been hurt or killed since the hunting Season has been in swing now. My Niece moved to S.C. About 1 1/2 years ago, and I am definitely, going to tell Her about The Black panthers that live in S.C. I AM SOOOO HAPPY THAT Grey and You came through that horrendously- scary ordeal, unscathed. I am still praying for You and Your Little Family that all goes well with Your upcoming surgery. GOD BLESS YOU, ALL. 😊🙏🏽👍🏼❤️✝️

Very scary ..and I also learned something tonight...did not know panthers live in the south...and I grew up there..ha! .I thought they were indigenous to Asia, India...etc..didn't know they lived in the states...anyhoo... .I also believe it was trying to have dinner at the expense of your dog..and the poop of the panther on your property marked "his territory" to come back another time and day/night and scope out your dog for his meal ....lucky dog....I enjoyed the story. ..Ms.Phyliss, we should *do this every Friday night* ..beats going to the movies, and it's free! Haha!

back in 1968 we moved to Arkansas. We lived on the road going to Cricket Creek. At night time , it would sound like a baby crying far off in the valley. I happened to mention this to my father in law. He told me not to worry, it was that damm panther that would come through this neck of the woods every year about this time. The conversation then changed to football. The ladies went into the kitchen to help mom fix dinner. just a normal Saturday afternoon between Branson Mo. and Harrison Ark. loved listening to Yo u this morn.

That was definitely a black panther. One of my brothers has land next to a national forest and he has come in contact with them. He also has a donkey that was attacked in its shelter. The panther took its paw right under the door and tore the donkeys leg just trying to get at it.

I live in OKC on a dead end street with 1 undeveloped lot, mine, and a quarter mile strip of land next to it. I stepped onto my back porch one day and looked to my left and saw 2 animals running south on that strip of land. The grass was tall and I briefly and distinctly saw one black and one tan cat leaping along before disappearing behind the tree line. Also a few miles from home me and others saw a tan cat with a black tipped tail crossing the street into a wooded park area. I love cats and the black panther was my fantasy pet.

Miss Phyllis, I'm 66 yrs. old and I was born and raised in upstate SC and was always told, as a child ,to watch out for the black panthers. So, as far as I'm concerned, there are black panthers in SC.

Wow I love story time. Phyllis you told such a fun campfire story. I am sure there could be some pack of black panthers living in the area. With the amount of rabbits, squirrels and raccoons you probably have near your nice wooded neighborhoods, a couple of black panthers could thrive into a group. Great story told well.

I spent a few years up in Canada in a remote area. With a cat. Any cat. Big or small. Yell as loud as you can. Flail your arms.. with bears, it makes a difference if brown or black. I think the brown bear you drop and play dead.. black bears, you make the noise and raise your arms up. Make as much noise as you can.. these were the first things i was told when I was up there.. love your videos.. thank you for sharing..

I live in the Upstate S.C. My neighbor found footprints right next their chicken coop. D NR came out and took Pixar and like always said No it couldn't be a panther. She put game cams and capture died several images of what looked to be a panther. They called DNR back, they showed up took the computer disk and left and has not returned her items or gave her a repot of their findings. Strange. Miss Phyllis you saw a panther the bigger question why does the state deny their exsistance? Very Strange

Ms. Phyllis, I'm fairly new to your channel...only discovered you about a month or so ago and immediately fell in love and subscribed! You are an awesome story teller...I love how detailed you are. I felt like I was there with you. Fantastic! When I was 9 (37 years ago!) we moved from California to Kentucky. We lived there for about a year and a half before coming back home. Anyway, while there, we lived in this little old shack of a house that butted right up against a hill. Very 'foresty'...lots of cedar trees, I remember...Anyway, there were definitely big black WILD cats roaming around there too! One mauled my poor kitty cat nearly to death. It was a pure miracle he survived. But, yeah, we definitely had our own experience seeing some kind of large black cat as well. Very frightening!

Phyllis. I tried making my own recipe of your "rebirth of jello". First time I've ever attempted anything like this, but it was so good I had to come directly online to tell you all about it. My wife is finding my daily fascination with your channel so funny by the way. She said "uh-oh, what are you doing with my blender, Phyllis?" Anyway. Here it is. (The same method you used). Large box of Orange jello (6oz) Add- 1/4 cup sugar Add- 2 cup boiling water. Stir up Add- 1 cup ice water In the blender add 1 pack of cream cheese, plus jello water. Blend. (I reduced the water for a more orangy flavor and added a little sugar to counterbalance the non sweet cream cheese) It's so good. Will you try it? Oh, I put drained mandarins in too, when it was blended.

Darling Phillis if I could only tell you how engagingly that story was I don’t have long to live but you kept me enthralled till 2.10am In New Zealand we have no dangerous animals, snakes. We live a life ,free to wander through Bush . That was so well told I could close eyes and imagine it all sounds horrifying. I hope we may meet again.

I 100% believe you! Driving to our camp on Lake Elmore here in Vermont about an hour from our home and very rural, a mountain lion crossed the road right in front of us. Broad daylight! We were used to wild animals on that road there are beware of moose signs along it and to see one was not uncommon. But had never seen anything like that cat! When we got home I called Fish and Game. They told me officially they'd been extinct up here since the '30's but there had been reports and because it was so rural out there, if they were still around that's where they'd be! Great story. Thank you!

No doubt to me that was a panther! When I was younger, fourth grade maybe, we lived in a small town in Texas. Our house was out in the country, one of two homes on this country lane. We had a wrap around porch. All of us kids shared one bedroom with two windows. The porch just off the windows. My sister and I shared a bed that was pushed against the wall with the window even with our bed. I loved going to sleep listening to the crickets and frogs, you know just night sounds. Well this one night I woke with this feeling of being watched. I looked right into the eyes, yellow eyes of this big black cat, not a house cat. It let out a scream as such I had never heard before nor since. It raised the hair on my head! I woke the whole house! My Daddy grabbed his flashlight and gun and went outside. There were huge paw prints right outside of my window. That was the last time that we slept with our windows open. We were told that it could not have been a panther but I know what I saw. It will be with me forever etched in my mind. I will be 60 in a couple of weeks and I, like you know what I saw.

Wow makes cold chills go up my spine. Great story. My sister lives in the country on ten acres and there has been several stories of sightings of a black leopard. I told her she should get some night glasses and see what's roaming around out there. I think she is to scared to do it. Thanks for sharing.

I bet that panther was coming so close because that guy dressing deer for the hunters may not have been disposing the innards of the deer well enough and it drew the panther there. I live in a suburb about a mile from a river and I hear and see many wild animals at night but one made the erriest cry one night that woke me up. I bet it was a panther now since hearing your story. Haven't had as much problem with owls since that night though. Great story and I enjoy them after a stressful week with Hurricane Irma. I was planning on watching all of Mr.Bucky's videos while the storm was going on since I didn't lose my electricity but the internet went out so that took care of my ability to watch the rest of his work. Thankfully the internet is staying on tonight.

We had the same issue here with Mountain Lions. The state swore there were none here but people around here saw them and lost pets. Then they saw and filmed two on the edge of Omaha 200 miles east of here, then they became "very concerned" Suddenly we had Mountain Lions.

You are great at storytelling and it most definitely sounds like a black panther. They are also in Florida and I think they had been on the endangered species list. It most likely was staking out that area due to deer scraps and the fact that your house had been unoccupied for a while. Unfortunately the panther most likely got the neighbor's dog. I worked for several years in the animal care and control field, not only with domesticated animals but wildlife also. I live in southeastern Alabama and we have a few of the bigger cats here from time to time. Sumter National Forest sounds like a good home for the big cats, but with homes built so close to it the cats hunting range took over the neighboring area. Love all your videos.
