James Dandu (5 July 1970 - 26 August 2002), also known as Cool James, was a Tanzanian-Swedish rapper and record producer. Born in Mwanza, Tanzania, he completed his primary education at Kurasini Primary School before moving to Stockholm, Sweden with his family. His musical career began in 1988, and by 1992, he released his first album. In 1993, he co-founded the group Swahili Nation with Andrew Muturi. Later, he formed Cool James & Black Teacher with Jose Masena, producing hits like "Dr. Feelgood." Returning to Tanzania, he produced for East African artists and founded the Tanzanian Music Awards in 1999. Rest in peace, James; you will forever be remembered.
