Rebekah’s demeanor, I can imagine, is quite triggering for those who have overbearing parents even into adulthood. Lord, help us navigate our relationships with our parents as adults and show them respectful grace.

A very timely reminder for me and the circumstances of our family right now - including the temptation to 'fix' things according to my own 'wisdom' and 'understanding' and not wait for God's leading and timing!! Thank you for bringing this story to life! I definitely see myself in the story and I'm so thankful for God touching my heart through this presentation and giving me clarity in my own situation - 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding! In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path' Jeremiah. Amen and thank you!

Awesome presentation! It speaks to me personally and I think it will be relatable to everyone that opens their hearts to the loving and awesomeness of God. Looking forward to hearing the next one.

While reading the bible through for the second time, I came to the same conclusion that God works through faulty people and faulty decisions. It's such an encouragement that God can still use me in spite of my shortcomings and failures. ❤🙏🏻

It's crazy that Isaac forgets that he too was the second born son to Abraham after Ishmael yet God blessed him with the first born rights. Isaac defo didn't do right at all

David again a great presentation, the application of what I see here with Rebekah and Jakob is similar to Christians kinda not accepting Jesus as God’s gift and eternal life through Jesus by believing in Him but misunderstanding, misleading or ignorance of scripture and working to achieve eternal life on their own merits, eternal life is not something we can earn all we can do is to believe in Jesus as the messiah and His grace that’s our part that we can and must do that’s it, our job status doesn’t matter, how many zeros in our bank account doesn’t matter but to do the will of God and believe in the one he sent that’s what matters and is a big lesson I see here for us today

Thank you for the presentation! I would like to say that at the time stamp of 52:13, you suggested that the “he” that could not change what he did was Isaac but scripture tells us explicitly in Hebrews 12:17 that it was Esau. This is further supported by Gen 27:34,38 which mention Esau as the one who was crying.

Is it possible that there is a special, God-prepared person for each of us? I’m not sure that we need to “shop around” as God believing Christians, but can trust in His ability to provide for all our needs including providing a spouse. What do you think?

Many things come in play here. 1. Isaac is not Abraham’s first born. Still, even though there is a word of revelation for Yahwe, he insists on the primogeniture blessing in Esau, his favored son. 2. When Jacob says “Your God gave me success”, Jacob is also referencing Rebecca’s revelation that the younger would serve the oldest. Jacob is expecting the blessing all of his life and, in a certain way, trusts his mother and the tradition that this is how it will play out. 3. Isaac wants to make sure he is not being tricked tells me he knows Rebecca is pushing the blessing on Jacob and not on Esau so he wants to make sure. Surely, Rebecca and Isaac has talked about this many times. 4. And yes, he absolutely knew the revelation, albeit through trickey, had been realized.

You know Jacob gets all the heat for favoritism, his dad who had the benefits of prophecy, and STILL was favoring and planning to make Esau the heir. I wonder why Issac never got mentioned for the inflicted damage and Rebecca got the disciplined.

I think it is interesting how this speaker talks about the injustice and unfairness of the rights acquired just because someone was a firstborn child and not based on merit. But then he turns around and talks about a man being the priest in the home solely because he is a man and not based on meritocracy. The term “priest of the home” is an attempt to put more leadership, control, and responsibility on men, stripping women of the equal access Christ died for. Do people so easily forget there is no male or female in Christ? The term "priest of the home" never appears in Scripture and is an attempt to uphold patriarchy that doesn't exist in Christ and suppress the equality of women.

@@dr.johnwatson2503 You can know how old he was when he died and how many years he spent in Padam-aram, how many years he was in Egypt. It works. You have to do some math and count backwards to find it.

From the SDA Bible Dictionary: On his way into 20 years of exile, during which Rebekah died, the 77-year-old Jacob, for the first time as heir to the privileges and responsibilities of the covenant, experienced a personal encounter with God and vowed to fulfill his part should he be able to return home (Gen 28:10-22).

David you need to understand something ..God was Never going to let Esau receive the birthright...( the Bible tells you God's feelings of the matter... Esau I hated) for a good reason... Esau hated God..and the birthright.. the interesting thing in plan B was who would die ( notice Rebecca according to Ellen White devined what Isaac was about to do)... so was she saving Isaac's life or Esau.. because again some would have to die.. if Isaac didn't wake up to his mistake!! But again Rebecca should have trusted God... Notice Isaac's reaction of Trembling after he realizes what he has tried to do..
