The pettiness of Empress Kojun and the Royal family coupled with Michiko's father's matrimonial refusal is a love story for the ages. There was nothing common about Empress Michiko. If there happen to be another in her likeness the world would be twice as bright. The Crown Prince was struck by lightning and found a pot of gold all on the the same day when he met this beautiful lady. Forgive me. The sharp pangs of jealousy runs though my veins. Great work. A life without tragedy, heartbreak, trials and tribulations is not a life well lived. British and Japanese royals live an unfullfilled life. Being pampered on everything. They suddenly wake up and they are already 80 years old. Michiko would have much preferred being a commoner if she looks back at it now.

I was getting Princess Diana vibes throughout this video. People always seem to love fairytale and how they would one day wish to be married to royals and stuff like that but the moment a commoner enters the Royal family everyone starts to attack her just because of her status
@linboh26642 жыл бұрын
In her case though she didn’t actually want to become a royal and had initially turned down the emperor when he proposed to her. She was fully aware of just how difficult her life would become if she were to marry into the Royal family. Hence she refused him. However, the emperor didn’t give up one bit and kept continuing to propose to her until she finally broke down and agreed. She married him under the promise that he will protect her and be her ally no matter what. While he may not have fulfilled all his promises he did his very best. Both the Royal Family and government officials were heavily against Empress Michiko directly raising her children instead of leaving them to a nursemaid like all the other royal family members. The Emperor respected his wife’s decision and stood by her all the way. It definitely wasn’t some romantic fantastic fairytale but what they have is something they desperately worked hard to build. For me that is something to be respected and admired.

That's true. Japan's Imperial Family literally has no money because the Constitution only gave the power of the purse to the Japanese government. Unfortunately for the Japanese government, the collapse of the Japanese assets bubble resulted in the most dramatic power-wealth transfer in history. The transfer of Japanese national wealth and power into the Bank of Japan, while this Bank is privatized and controlled by the FED and American financiers. Technically, Japanese political elites and Imperial Family hold no money and power since Americans permanently seized all of them for good.

Relationships with in-laws aren't necessarily pleasant, to say the least. Empress Emerita Michiko's biggest hurdle was that she was the first ever "commoner" crown prince consort. Before her, consorts post 645 A.D. had come from either a royalty or from one of the Fujiwara families who had ruled the court for over a millennia (with very few exceptions). For someone outside of that to become the crown prince consort, especially a non-noble (although nobility was abolished after WW2) upset a lot of the royal consorts, who at the very least were from a noble. Her mother-in-law, Empress Kojun, may seem like an ideal example of a royal consort, a daughter of a royal household. However, she herself was subject to controversy regarding her engagement to Emperor Showa (then Crown Prince Hirohito) as her maternal lineage was suspected of colorblindness. She herself was also said to have been in awkward terms with her mother-in-law, Empress Teimei. Empress Teimei was born to her father's concubine, and was raised until Age 4 with a farmer's family. The reason why she was chosen as Emperor Taisho's consort was because unlike previous emperors, Emperor Taisho would only have one consort with no concubines in order to match their western counterparts. The government wanted a healthy women who would bear many children as Emperor Meiji, her father-in-law, had 10 of his 15 children die in infancy, a majority due to Meningitis. Emperor Taisho himself was no exception, as he was marred with illnesses from his infancy, and would delegate his powers to his crown prince Hirohito for the final 5 years of his reign, passing away at age 47. Empress Teimei, raised on a farm and surrounded by nature, was described to have been a tough and smart woman, which is said to have clashed with Empress Kojun's slow and mild, royalty-like nature even until her final years. To the contrary, Empress Teimei was said to have the most respect for Naruko Yanagihara, Emperor Taisho's biological mother (but not her mother-in-law). After her passing, Empress Teimei is said to have visited her deathbed, held her hand, and told her that she had been able to come so far without much trouble because of her. Yanagihara was one of her 6 teacher's that taught her imperial manners and rules upon her engagement to the crown prince. What is ironic is that Yanagihara's niece, Akiko (better known by her poet pseudonym Byakuren), who had infamously run off from political marriage to pursue a romantic relationship with a social activist who was not from nobility, protested vehemently against Michiko's marriage saying that it was out of line with tradition, even to the point where there were rumors alleging that she was trying to incite right-wing groups to stop the engagement. The current Empress, Masako, might not had the worst in terms of relationship with in-laws, but has had her more-than fair share of hardship as she was diagnosed with adjustment disorder in 2004, which dramatically decreased her public appearances. Being a Harvard grad with a degree in mathematical economics as well as a former diplomat by profession, there is said to have been a rift between her and the traditionalist Imperial Household Agency. She had not spoken to the media for 17 years until 2020, during the coronation.
@Minnie_Bear2 жыл бұрын

I am not surprised, Asian monarch families are often crueler to their royal commoner family members than western royal families, if you watch Chinese, Korean, and Thailand soap dramas about their royal families you can get a pretty good idea of how the royal family member and those coming from aristocratic backgrounds treat commoners and those they saw beneath them, Michiko story is just like princess Diana, the only difference is that Michiko was not killed by them, I feel sorry that Michiko had to deal with what looks like a mother-in-law from hell! the fact that her husband sat there and let his family bully his wife is what pissed me off the most, but what else can you expect from royalty.

*MAIN REASON: Michiko Shōda came from a Roman Catholic family and Empress Kojun, the mother of Akihito frowned her religion.* 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱

And Empress Michiko allows the other to critize her daugther in law!? Or she did defended her but didn’t seem helpful.

You know tht the imperial family has no power? Like, the emperor emeritus had to ASK for permission to abdicate. The imperial household agency controls everything, the members of the family have nothing to say. It's toxic AF.
