Henrietta Smith-Rolla, aka AFRODEUTSCHE, is a British-born Ghanaian/Russian/German artist, composer, producer, and DJ based in Manchester, UK. Filmed in her home studio during lockdown, Smith-Rolla shares her personal journey into music-making, her influences, and the development of her debut sample library with Spitfire Audio, Spectrum - ending with her demo composed using the library: 'Night Time'.

Really like that it's a dedicated plugin and you don't need to use Kontakt to run it! Are there other Spitfire products like that or is this a new thing?

Yes, I've recently discovered them. A lot of free samples as well, check LABS.

I'm with you there, I find Spitfire's plugin much better to use, especially on a high Res monitor. Kontakt is an amazing product, but the UX is very dated now and quite clunky. There are a few other Spitfire libraries in addition to this and LABS - the other SA Recordings releases, all the Originals series, the newer Evolutions (Angular Strings, Woodwinds etc) plus BBC SO and Eric Whitacre Choir. I think there are others too. The product pages on the Spitfire website state whether each one is a standalone plugin or Kontakt library.

Very interesting based on what she said, on how she taught herself to play music pieces assigning a color to an instrument, to a chord sequence.I actually had to rewind to try and understand maybe how she used color to learn music pieces, by assigning colors, as mentioned before, and as she said. I'm still trying to understand it, but that's very cool!! Well done!!
