i'd like to add something ! There was a channel called spechie, she was really popular because of her unique "edgy" personality, kind of like tabbes, and her different personality is what made her interesting and entertaining to watch. But unfortunately being that way makes everybody attack you and make so many videos complaining about you that you end privating all of your old videos receiving so much hate and start making videos devoid of your personality as to so make sure nobody can be "offended" thus making the videos boring.. that was the case of spechie. and now she doesn't make videos anymore and you can never see her old videos again. Things like that makes people too scared to be themselves or try to be more interesting, and will "play safe" because they will get so much backlash otherwise.

I honestly think this video was something we needed. Not only as story animators, for other KZbin creators as well. The fear of trying something new is definitely something that has been keeping me away from working on any sort of content, because I am scared that others won't like it. But how will you know unless you try it out? Definitely think that content has grown a bit more stale. I think we definitely need videos that aren't just "#relatable" but something that could help the audience grow as people as well. Talking about problems, interests, personal experience you've had that changed your thoughts on things. I have always wanted to animate and work on story animation. But as said, I am kinda scared about trying anything different. I really loved this video, because now I feel a bit more confident in what I want to work on. Being honest on the KZbin platform is definitely a hard thing to do without getting some sort of backlash for your opinion, so I really appreciate you being straight forward with everyone on how all of this is effecting our KZbin communities. It's common for others to be inspired so much to the point they cancel out their own unique ideas. I'm not gonna lie, I have done the same thing. I tried making videos over and over, but found myself trying to cover up how awkward and weird I am. I would try to have a more calm voice, when I am really high pitched and out there. The main key to bringing new ideas to the table is being yourself. Doing what you love to do and things you personally would find to be interesting and new. Because out of the over 7 billion people on this planet, there are bound to be people who like the same ideas you have. And you're right. If we all started putting our own spin on things, this could help the community grow. That's what made certain genres to be popular in the first place. People who weren't afraid to be who they are online; sharing their lives with others. Sorry, I ended up writing more than I intended. Again, I really am happy you made this video. It's something that this place needed. You're one of a kind, which is think also makes this very inspiring. Thank you Maaz!

I agree that storytime animation is stuck in this PG-realm. It's actually something I've noticed a year or two back which is why I'm trying to capitalize in on it. However, I came to realize that animating is a ton of work and involves a bunch of skills to go alongside it too. I’ve actually wanted to try my hand at story time vids but I also wanted to deal with more adult topics myself since that’s been my life for about a decade now and I did see there really wasn’t much of that. So tbh it’s kind of encouraging to hear there are people who would like to see that. I also think I’m in a good position for that financially since I have a day job so it really would give me the wiggle room to figure out the monetary logistics outside of KZbin. I’ve also been feeling like I’m too old for it not to be creepy but I’m on the latest half on my 20s I can get. On the other hand tho, that does make for a different set of stories so I’d hope that’d be appealing (if not very embarrassing). Either way, good vid Maaz! The title had me like “oh geez no I’m tired and old” but it’s very grounded and v good points made. I’m glad you guys try to push your content in different directions and as an older artist, seeing everyone figure out their own direction from where they started has been really cool. Ultimately, thank you for making this vid. I’ve been kinda insecure about my age and my less than kid friendly ideas for content so I found this very encouraging.

im gonna cry i fucken love this video really excited because I know this genre, community, or whatever moniker you want to give it, has so much left to give and it'll be done exactly in the way that you mentioned in this video, pushing boundaries and breaking the mold ( perhaps at the risk of ones potential livelihood or fighting against the "meta" lol) creators having fun with their content and making something that is "truly their own" Swoozie and Dom were the OGs, James and Jaiden were the next gen that lit the fire under KZbin storytelling, bringing us here. But this isn't the end of stories on youtube, we could be in for another golden age. The standard template has been great, but examples like some of the bigshots creating their own specialized "brand" or SPICE of story telling is where the real dope content is going to be. Honestly, I had an opinion on this long before I watched this video. I've noticed in storytime animators videos, they label it under 'film and animation'. This is a reasonable thing to do, but other animators such as Gingerpale and Ice Cream Sandwich Comics label their videos under 'comedy'. I consider this a genius move on their part, and as I am debating starting my own storytime channel, I will definitely label my videos as such. It is not only a better way to convey the purpose of the video, but also can introduce members of the KZbin community to a genre that they never thought to watch before. Thank you Maaz, for adressing the crap that has infiltrated the storytime animation genre.

I think you have to differentiate between storyline animators doing it as a hobby and doing it as full time job. I experienced when people do stuff independently you get a much more "honest" product. Let me give you an analogy: Imagine you go to a special shop cause you like it. You become a regular always inspecting all the products being a total nerd about everything in the shop. People asking you about your opinion on stuff in the shop, you ponder the pros and cons, at the end you present your point of view. Later, you start working in the shop and sell the products you were passionate about yourself, with the difference that your financial status depends whether you sell the products or not. If people ask now about your opinion on stuff, you aren't an independent fan anymore. Your interest lies in the fact to sell as much as possible. So you start to adapt to things that guaranteed to sell well with your customers whether you stand for it 100% or not because your literal living depends on it. Way too often I saw people calculating on creating content literally to generate clicks. At the end I feel better with content creators doing what they do as a hobby. I don't like it when people disguise themselves just to sponge some new potential clicks.

Stephen: Dan called him an "employee" and said that even though he does equal work as dan or whats his name he doesn't deserve an equal share in the company. Dan: He claims he didn't say Stephen was just an employee. He also claims that Stephen did way less work than him or the other guy. That's basically it, I probably didn't include some of the other important facts. Anyway, I don't like Dan or Stephen anymore because of this drama they created. This happened over a year ago, so that's why I don't remember some facts. Thanks for the question.

Omar 0-0 I'm not good at drawing ether my friend, but I try my best. But don't give up in animation, your are on the right time. I wish I had all the tools we have today 20 years ago, when animation programs didn't really exist. Plus, don't worry so much about drawing for now....with time you will get better. Keep animating with what ever you can draw for now, just try to make a good script for your stories or message. Look at Stewbrew and Roasted Noodle.....not good at art but good at telling their stories.

I feel like what you said in your video is totally right! Like a lot of new animators, like myself usually try to replicate what TheOdd1sOut is doing, in my case because he's been my inspiration for the longest time, and I'm sure he is for most of the others as well. But I do see now that if everyone just tries to be a replica of him, there's gonna be no variety. Like if you asked someone to watch the real Odd1sOut and like a "bootleg" version of him, I'm sure they'd just prefer the real one. (Thanks for the insight Maaz! Things like this really help out people like me who are just starting out and trying to find their style!)

To me there are 4 generations of Story time Animators. Gen 1: Jaiden, James, Swoozy, Domics Gen 2: Emirichu, Daidus, Alex corner, others lots of others. Gen 3: Hamination, BrodyAnimates Gen:4 Comming soon ish, only person I can come up with is SophiaStudios or smth.
