This man really a role model. I been taking notes since my high school. I’m working full time as of now. Getting my life together and getting my pc so I can do streaming, gaming, and art on the side. Been takin it slow so I can have the space and consistency to do it and honestly I feel that this summer will the time I actually become consistent with this stuff💯.

One other thing to add on in regards to being a KZbinr or streamer specifically is inconsistent payment. When you work a 9-5 you can expect a certain amount of money based on hourly pay and how many hours you work. When you’re doing YT or streaming full time there’s no real way of knowing. You have to rely on people subbing or donating and you have to rely on YT clearing your videos for monetization. That can be EXTREMELY stressful especially if you have a family to feed, and not everyone can handle it. There’s a reason you hear some content creators talk about being stressed or having anxiety, and I’m more than wiling to wager finances are one of the big reasons.

so i appreciate this clip way harder than your usual content because I've kept my job and did streaming on side. i found myself burnt out kinda badly as far as rushing the between getting viewers and playing games i didn't enjoy but i got my promotion at my job so it could atleast afford to take a break. I'll admit I jumped at this content creator thing from the wrong angles but I'm happy I didn't throw my whole life into it so i wouldn't lose my apartment or hobby.

The people who hired me kept messing up with the paperwork and other stuff I won't get into. Now, I'm back in school, use YT as hobby to keep myself sane/busy. Thanks for the video man! Yeah I started my KZbin the year before KZbin decided to cut monetization off of smaller channels I was at lime 1 to 200 at the time. Honestly if that didn't happen and my channel got even bigger than it is now I'd still probably keep my job because it keeps me active.

Loved this discussion and video! I have to pull up to your podcast more, these laid-back talks are dope TBH. I remember I somehow scrounged up the money to buy a Hauppage HD PVR when that was the go-to/one of the only ways to record LPs for consoles and being super excited to start a KZbin channel when I was 19. I think I burned out just from keeping an honest schedule/editing alone by the time I was 20, almost 21. Content creation is HARD work and I have the utmost respect to any/all folks who even make a solid attempt at getting into the field and even moreso for those who solidify a living from it. I had a lot of fun doing so but it just wasn't something I could sustain while attending school full time. To hear you've been at it for 12 years is really amazing to me. Would encourage anyone who is considering it to just do it, though! Even though I personally gave up on content creation, I gained some soft & hard skills, learned a lot about myself, and gained a lot of confidence just in the two years of creating/running a KZbin channel period. There's value in anything you apply your mind to, it doesn't always have to be "If I don't make it all the way then it was all for nothing." Type shit. Wishing you all the best!
