It’ll be hella scary and hard at first, but push through and it’ll get easier! When ur in class (I know it’s kinda creepy) but watch people and try to see who u feel you’d vibe with! Try your best to talk to them first, be like Heyy I’m new, do u know where *a class* is? Or try to see if they have similar interests as u and try to initiate conversation! Or who knows, someone might talk to u first! After those phases, it gets alotttt easier! You’ll do great! Good luck 💜

I’m not gonna lieeee, but the first few days are the hardest, but push through and it gets easier! Do your best to talk to other people! Try to watch people and find someone u think u can vibe with! Do your best to talk to them, or who knows someone might talk to you first! Once you get past the first chat phase, they’ll introduce you to their friends, and it’ll all be chill from there! i was super nervous at first but then i realized it’s not scary at all. don’t be late. don’t be afraid to talk to people, just ask them if u can sit there, ask if u guys have any other classes together. i was shy so i looked for ppl that were sitting alone in my classes to talk to and i made lots of friends. and it’s totally normal to walk or eat lunch alone bc ur new, i saw lots of ppl that ate lunch alone and went on their phones. be confident. trust me it’ll get better you’ll have new friends, everything will be normal after a short time ❤️

genesis palmer I went through the same thing last year. I went to a small Montessori school with 11 other people in my grade that I have been with since age 3 and then went to a public high school for freshman year. I was so scared because I was going to a completely different school than all of my friends and most of the people at my new school had been going to school together for a while and already knew each other. There were very few new people and that made me even more scared but I was literally scared for no reason, and it was actually really easy! I made friend fast (trust me, I’m a very awkward person so if I can make friends you will too) and it wasn’t bad at all. One of the things besides making friends that stressed me out was getting lost. If you can, go to the school a week or so before the first day so if you already have your schedule you can see where your classes are. This will put you at ease so you don’t have to worry about getting lost. Also, people are always looking for new friends and will be very eager to befriend you. Don’t worry, you’ll do great! I’ll be a sophomore next year and I when I look back to the first day I realize that I had nothing to worry about. Good luck!

This video gives me hope I'm going through the process of transferring schools and my experience is so similar to yours I hate my current High School!! I cried everyday and did not have a good time freshman year but did not transfer or thought much about it because I was so scared.. Omg same! I was going to 8th grade and my first day was disappointing, my second day though? I made 4-5 new friends and I was really proud of myself. Third day I made another new friend but balled my eyes out at break time because I felt so lonely and wanted to be with my other friends from my old school.

That was the greatest year of my life, and I cannot wait for the next four years to come. I have a close knit group of friends and am going into high school with straight A’s. If you can take anything from that, it’s to not panic. Life has its ways.

Third update, 9th has been a roller coaster. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily due to the fact that I transferred last year, but rather the middle school to high school transition in itself. Just because it’s been an adjustment period doesn’t mean it’s been bad though, I still have two of my best friends with me from 8th, I’m talking to someone special, and I’ve learned a lot so far this year about myself and my goals. Also, because I transferred across states, I accidentally stumbled upon my dream high school! I’m following my dreams of having a career in the fields of robotics and engineering, and getting my engineering program certifications later in March, and my robotics certifications next year. Once again, life just seems to have its ways

Stephanie, it went surprisingly well! We had buddies that helped us get around the school for the first week so that was good, then the next week we didn’t have the buddies and I found my way around.. got lost a few times :,D

I’m watching videos because I’m really debating whether to ask my parents if I can switch high schools or not. Thing is it’s really hard to make the decision because it’s a k-12 school and I’ve been here since 3rd grade. I’m in 10th grade right now and I’m just tired of the school at this point. The school is super small (there’s like 150 high school students total), our school cut funding for all extracurricular activities, teachers keep leaving because they’re cutting their pay too, and this is all because they’re building a new high school. But I’m probably either going to graduate a year early with my credits or do a high school program at a college for my senior year so I rob my won’t even be at the school to experience it. We have no clubs and it’s in the country and I’m Mexican American so people can be racist and insensitive. The only thing holding me back is my friends. I’ve known them for 6-7 years and I have a hard time talking to people so I feel like making new friends will be hard. But I’m leaning more toward asking my parents if I can transfer. Like you said in your video, although you had to leave your friends you know you had to do it for yourself. I just want a normal high school experience with more than 32 people in my grade and I don’t want to be mixed with elementary or middle school anymore. I want to be able to join clubs and meet new people that I haven’t known for the past 7 years. It feels like I’m not even in high school honestly, because everything’s been the same for the past 7 years. I want to do this for myself but I’m just really scared that I’m going to regret it. Sorry for this super long comment, but I just want to vent a bit and see what other people think :/

hey, i know im responding wayyyy later. its been 7 months since you commented so you probably already made you're decision. but i jus wanna say that i understand where you're coming from completely. im going into my freshman year currently but i have the choice to stay at my 6-12 school or go to a regular highschool. i hated the school so much more than i could possibly say. but ive known those people for so long and i have many friends there. but theres also so many people i want to get away from. i've decided to transfer to a regular highschool. its currently summer and i only have a month before i go to this new school and im so scared because i dont know anyone at this new school and im very shy and awkward until i get to know you. so im sure i will be able to fit in and make friends im just nervous. i think you should transfer schools. do it for yourself not for anyone else. im sure you will make more friends and if you and your old friends really have a strong bond yall will continue communicating. just trust the process! good luck!

@@Wtvjenae thank you! And good luck to you too! I actually decided on going to the high school program at a college in a close city which my parents are letting me go for both junior and senior year! This is a WAY better decision than staying at my (now old) school. Especially since they have to post spine the construction, but have already accepted so many new students that the high schoolers are being moved to this strip mall and are going to be learning in a church for at least a year 💀 Safe to say I’ve escaped lol. But I’m not as nervous as I used to be, since, when I had to go to an interview to see if I would get accepted, I met a few people who some got in! And since I’ll be having to live in a dorm, I’ve been texting my future roomie and she seems super nice! I’m more excited than I am nervous now since I know I won’t be alone in the transition process :) I hope everything goes well for you too! If you really didn’t like it at your old school, I’m sure you’re definitely going to be thanking yourself in the future! Even though you might feel nervous about it, I would recommend to try joining some sort of club or extracurricular activities if your new school has it. I’ve heard it makes it easier to be make friends with others when you have at least a few things in common already! Wishing you the best!!!
