ahahaha! When I was in Paris, France I had the "gold ring" thing happen and I also saw the petition thing from a mike away. I mostly saw it coming because I saw other tourists signing them and they were leaving themselves wide open. Another thing is while you're taking pictures in a crowded area, someone could "bump into you" and you'd never even realize your stuff was gone. Be careful out there, my dear!

What about the taxi drivers? If you google: taxi tariffe milano, you can see the official prices on the Comune di Milano website. I'd like to know how many times they apply them with foreigners.
