this is encouraging! I recently graduated from my DA program & I’m @ a low paying job, that I don’t really like.. but I’m just going to stick it out as much as I can to get the experience (6 months-year) & then find me something better! Sometimes you gotta use these companies how they use you & just think of the bigger picture ❤

I’ve been at my dental assistant job for over a month now. I feel like I’m always being micromanaged and criticized in front of patients too… Idk if I plan on staying at this job for much longer, let alone stay in the dental field 😅 Good luck to you and your future endeavors tho girl!🤞🏼

Hey girl, there are many different specialties in the dental field I would try something else like ortho, oral surgery ,endodontics etc. But definitely dont stay where you are not comfortable.I hope u find something that you enjoy 💕

You will eventually find your dental home. Lesson from an rda in the field for ten years; never let someone disrespect you or humiliate you in front of other people/staff/ patients. There is always time for “that someone” to pull you over to the side to have a personal conversation/ or feedback after the procedure/or setting.

Some doctors are such narcissists they love to humiliate you in front of patients. Believe me I'm going through the same thing. If you're in this situation, learn as much as u can start looking for something else. That's what I'm doing. But keep your plans to yourself. Girl!!! It sounds like you're telling my story.

GIRLL!! I’m a dental assistant in Chicago and I’ve been assisting for 4 years. Some dentist are so rude!! It is not for the the weak -.- . This is my 5th assisting job I quit. These Mfs are so ungrateful. They love to belittle people. They love that power. But fuck that. I remember my old boss said we need people that need us. they would hire pregnant girls that needed the job and they know they could control bc those girls “needed” that job .

I just resigned from a job I just got hired onto. Don’t ever let yourself get disrespected or humiliated by a staff or doctor. I’ve been in the field for 10 years, and let me tell you nothing is worth holding into a job that doesn’t see their own mistakes and can’t respect a good hard working employee .

This kinda happened to me when i started dental assisting. I took a job in pediatric/ortho office bc i just wanted to work as a dental assistant. They offered me $14 an hour bc i was new. The other assistants took advantage of me-gave me all the hard crying kids patients, made me work the most for the least pay. I worked there 2.5 years almost 3 years, my breaking point was when i was the only one who had to work thru lunch. And all the other assistants would get a break. I stayed so long cause i was scared to start over in another office. I never got a raise. That was from 2019-2021. i built up some courage and have worked in 3 other diff offices, im at my fourth office making $24 an hour! I’m so happy where im at now such a healthy work environment

This video was low key relieving for me. I had to leave a toxic dental clinic. It was a toxic manager & clinical leader. All I could say is no matter how kind, transparent, and professional It wasn’t enough, weird behavior. It’s hard to win when you are surrounded by toxic people that aren’t real team players. I felt like the Dr would never realize how these people were affecting my or the teams moral just because they were good at their job. Clinical leader I felt like was maybe jealous cuz she did not try to help and teach me or communicate to me. Instead she would do strange thing behind me back. Even one point snatched an instrument out my hand and just does all type of weird stuff. Management was non helpful and I couldn’t stay there cuz just too much belittleing and micromanagement. Manager even threatened me over a suction tip being forgotten to be put on. (But it’s hard when you are doing multiple things and people are asking you for help as well) I concluded can’t work in a office that doesn’t value teamwork. Little petty things like that just lower Team moral. If I see a problem I fix it then and there and that’s it. Why can’t it be like that ? energy is important and there nothing wrong with choosing ourselves

I remember trying dental assisting when I was 19. Im quiet and shy and I felt like that held me back and i quit and haven't been back since.. now I'm going to try it again since I'm 33 years old.. just off of her asking if I was gonna pick the suction up wiith my gloves on and if I was keeping those same gloves on i would have told her off nicely. I would have been like i don't think that would be sanitary to keep the same gloves on.. we are in a dental clinic.. I just feel like when I was younger I let people talk to me any kind of way and push me out of certain spaces but not this time.. I'm here to work as a team so that's what we're gonna be doing.

I’m so impressed that you were catching on and able to pass instruments that fast. I went to a nine week course and I’m already wanting to quit after two days. I’m fumbling trying to hold my suction, air/water and grab instruments. I can’t hear what he’s asking for or if I can I’m thinking what the hell is that?! Then I have to put into the chart what we did with the appropriate codes and charting for next time. AND do impressions, pour up models etc.. it’s so much.

i am just curious... what is your training background and your certifications? either way, don't quit the field because of one bad clinic. just find a clinic where you will fit well. not all docs and DAs are unpleasant and hard to work with.

hi 💕 I know this may be a crazy question but do you have to go to college to be a dental assistant? or can you just go through training/programs?
@BreeLishell

So there are a few fast course programs that u can go through but you will only get a certificate in dental assisting. Some community colleges offer the dental assisting program and you can earn a degree and also the certificate .

That chick was rude. Smh I worked in ICU for a little over 10 yrs. In the beginning, I had some Nurse try to play a little bit. We had to move this trauma patient and asked if I knew how to hold C spine. The way she said it was in a smart ass way. She was always a little bitchy. I hit her a stern smart ass response. There was 2 other nurses there, one being our supervisor. The supervisor started laughing. 😂 She was one of my favs. She said "well that sets that straight". I proceeded to hold C spine like a mf boss. The C spine person tells everyone else when to move the pt. Lol A little advice for anyone going into the working world. If you know or feel like something isn't right or missing, speak up. Don't ever be scared to ask questions. If someone is upset about that, then you know how to handle that shit. Lol Sometimes, people are assholes and sometimes they just want to see what you know. So show what you know and shut a rude b down. ✌🏾

She forgot to limp. 🤦‍♀🤣She sounds Ignorant as hell and waaaay beyond unprofessional of the girl to cause all this Immature drama to lie on you as well as unprofessional for the Dr. to even talk to a person like that. Before you even did anything wrong as far as the gloves etc. YES that Drs. off and veeeery disrespectful and you can put in a complaint believe it or not and that woman Is the one that act 15 years old but its 25 has screws loose smh lol From what I listened to no you made the right decision to leave that particular place. But longs you stood up for yourself professionally. WOW stealing hours. Her work ethic sounds terrible and disgusting and also she sounds to e jealous of you. THAT simple. Your hilarious. Stay focused.YOU In my opinion need to be a Dentist you have knowledge and this seems beneath you. You got the Assistant job down. The other does not likely know much at all and getting by.
