Dutch/James, Thanks SO much for asking my Corbin retirement question! You guys are the best! What Kurt said, i believe, is 100% true despite the contrary rumors. I've said it was the exact two reasons he gave. 1. They'd planned and failed on that being a major push for Corbin. 2. Vince's childish ways and pouting to "prove him a lesson" for not having another year in the tank. Major reason I've always thought and believe that was Kurt has always stated how he wanted Cena to be his retirement match. Too bad he didn't have the guys now calling the shots.

Thank you so much for this interview.

@@davec.3129 I think it was "It's True. The Kurt Angle Story." I am pretty sure WWE produced it. Usually I would never get a WWE book but I just happened to and was glad I did. Let's just say Kurt has had a very interesting past. He had a criminal charge against him at Clarion that was dismissed (can't mention it in case of KZbin rules). Still hard to believe he was crazy enough to have the doctor give him a shot to be able to wrestle with basically a broken neck in Olympics.

The cage match against Ken where he moonsaults of the cage was a hell of a match. He went there to heal his mind and body and just pulled off some nuts stuff he never needed too. He never needed that spot in that match tbf and still would have been great but wow. Hands up I never seen him much in WWE was not able to watch the product and lost touch but TNA was free here and I got back into wresting and Kurt had some amazing matches and going back watching his work in WWE which was immense too you are correct and people forget or dont realise he was in TNA longer and I have read although he was still using and doing some spots that he didnt need to do he pulled of some amazing matches without spots as risky as that, he barely had a bad match, also I learned since he wrestled less because he travelled less and less house shows and he had time to recover more etc. Thats alot of word for me to say I agree with you. I will say without his time in WWE his TNA run wouldnt have been so epic. His enterence in TNA was next level too, the eeire start of his theme almost horror movie like string sounds and him appearing and looking like absolute beast.

James is a hell of a friend because I hear the comments and see the admiration on the podcast he's on and loyalty is something that shouldnt be taken for granted. Keep up the great work, and I hope we get many years of you two guys together creating content.

Oh BTW, Kurt your hell of a man. A man's man. I think the best heros have trauma, set backs and adversity and Kurt has had all. Kurt seems to have learned from them, grown and over came to be a man his kids could be proud of. They have been times I'm sure he wished he could have a do over, but he prevailed and lived a life you could make a movie now and TV series years down the road and millions can look up to and be inspired.

Always wanted one of those “explaining x in 5 levels of difficulty” for wrestling match psychology. Wired used to do it about things like physics and they would explain something to a 5 year old, then work their way up to someone with a masters degree in their actual field. Liked the one on physics because the guy with the masters degree basically laughed in his face about his assertions because it would totally change the rules of physics.

You know the most heartwarming thing about this particular episode? Dutch seems in good nick for an old guy who's just had a load of stress and hassle with family health problems. AAAAANNNND, . . . Kurt seems a LOT more coherant, confident and comfortable here than he did with the first few episodes of his own podcast. I don't know if health was remotely an issue, or if it was simply inexperience (or even a shit co-host who can't encourage banter instead of mere answers, which is why James (and Brian Last) are really good podcasters), but Kurt seemed quite out of it on those early episodes. Worryingly so. I don't like seeing older wrestlers struggle. Especially when they AREN'T that old! Glad everyone involved is still healthy enough to enjoy life! I'M JUST A SEXY KURT! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Here is how you can tell a man is in a better space after going through alot and Kurt has, he has gave it all to his fans, his body mind and spirit, two of them broke a few times but he is still half human. Look at his shelves/office. Its all set out and neat and structured and has what pctures that are accomplishments an things. The above may sound silly but the way I see it we read about many sportsmen usually combat ones who do not get to where kurt is now after fighting through alot on his way. Some live messy lives and have no money or addicts, I feel its getting better now but some get lost to a point they do not get back to a place Kurt is at, and the memes are funny of his thousand yard stare sometimes but he is lucid and smart and engaged in every interview I see, and actively listening and answering with great clarity and recall. For some reason m brain connected the two, I could also be talking crap but its half 1 in the morning here so.....
