My friend was always gettin in touch with the dead... too bad they put him away for necrophilia..
@carultch8 жыл бұрын
Why exactly is necrophilia wrong? I can understand a case for protecting human rights at any time from conception to natural death. But before conception and after natural death, there is no human to protect from anything. I'll admit, necrophilia is absolutely disgusting, but I don't understand the case for punishing the sick and twisted individuals who partake in it. There is an obvious case against homicidal necrophilia, but I don't understand why we punish necro-cannibals and necrophiliacs who act after natural death.

It's dangerous for the US government to have people question things, otherwise people might challenge the idea that the USA are great and the super heros of the world, it's dangerous for Americans to consider that their social economic and foreign interactions make them the baddies, cause then the gun manufacturers and oil companies that line the politicians pockets might not make as much money.

@debbiehenri71704 жыл бұрын
@blahblahblah mememe Sleep paralysis is a curious thing. They affect people differently (I can assure you that all of us here in this thread could list our individual experiences and find we're all quite unique). Anyway, there will be a form of sleep paralysis that will make more sense to you than the idea that a ghost would want to blow in your ear (for what purpose?) - or, more to the point, 'could' blow in your ear. If ghosts exist at all, don't forget they could 'only' be a non-physical impression on our physical world, because the actual person they were is dead and buried. Non-physical impressions cannot interact with our world - just like your reflection in a mirror can't pinch your nose. Therefore, that 'impression' which you thought a ghost cannot interact with you in that way, because to do so would mean they'd need a lung, diaphragm muscles, a manipulative mouth and an eye with which to locate you - plus the ability to interact with air molecules, which though invisible to our eyes, still have a real world presence. If you are really sure that you felt something and you were wide awake, it's quite probable that someone opened a door in your living quarters, either in your house or next door, and this caused a through draft (I can even smell when my neighbour is smoking). A one-off gust of wind can blow into an airbrick, in a gap around old type windows, under a front door, through an attic vent, into an extractor fan in the kitchen or bathroom, up through gaps in bare floorboards in part of your house, through a letterbox that someone pushed open in the night, even through a front door keyhole. Maybe you have a cat or dog wandering around at night, pushing open a door or slumping against the one to your room. All of these things are sufficient to cause enough of an air drift for you to 'feel' something. If it was quiet or lonely at the time it happened, you're going to be more aware and it's going to feel much more intense than at another time, say if you were busy in the kitchen. Better to look for a probable cause before hoping for an improbable one.

The only flooding I'm seeing is in China, and even that is made a lot worse by the Chinese mismanagement and the fact that they dammed all of the rivers and now have to release the water or else the dams would break. Don't get me wrong, climate change is real and it is happening, and we need to be on the lookout for it. But we also need to be skeptical of everyone trying to make us believe all sorts of claims, because the incentives are the same for a climate change alarmist and for a snake oil salesman.

That final analysis is severely lacking in nuance. American government consists of politicians paid by corporations to keep their taxes low, and that means not giving everybody healthcare, for example, which every other developed country does. And minimum wage increases correlate with higher employment, since more poor people with money to spend means more business for local businesses, and thus more employees needed. The same money in CEO offshore bank accounts does not create more jobs at all. Be skeptical of government, sure, but demand they do good work, not no work.

Meanwhile these same people are undermining education and healthcare in order to produce a population that is too sick, too stupid and too poor to do anything except keep mindlessly voting for them 'cuzz 'Merica!" Rich white capitalists ARE trying to steal your money. And they've trained you to think that, if you let them steal enough of your money, you'll one day become a rich white capitalist too. Despite the fact that America has the second worst rate of economic movement in the developed world (i.e. people tend to live and die in the economic bracket they're born into, and the system is specifically designed to propagate poverty).

Taxes serve a practical purpose. It's how you get things like "free education", "public services", "infrastructure" and so on. Society is built from the bottom up; from tax revenue. The more disposable incoming that the middle class have, the better off a society tends to be and the stronger its economy. Lowering taxes on the super rich, which is what right wing economics is all about, doesn't strengthen the economy, increase jobs opportunities, or increase standards of living. What it tends to do is weaken the economy, because 'trickle down wealth' is not a real thing.

+El Santo James Randi and/or JREF is the perfect gauge by which to judge theses con-artist, charlatans and liars. I am not sure if you know this El Santo, but The JREF Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge is a collection of double blind tests and protocols that are all co-designed and agreed upon by the claimants/testees and people with the JREF(like Jamy Ian Swiss, Banachek, Chip Denman, and Richard Saunders). ;O) In other words, a person makes a claim of their “abilities” like: ESP, dowsing, supernatural, psychic surgery, psychokinesis, sensing of paranormal phenomena, control of magnetic fields, etc... And then the claimant/testees along with the JREF designs a test based solely(only) on what the claimant stated “abilities” are. The JREF Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge is not there to debunk these people, but to reward them, as long as their claimed “abilities” can by consistently demonstrated under test condition. ;O) The JREF Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge only exposes the fakes/liars/con-artist/charlatans. If there are real people with paranormal gifts/abilities, and they do not want to exploit their “gift” for financial or selfish gain, then they can give away the million dollars(that they should be able to easily win) to a charity. ;O) P.S. Oh, and by the way, among many many other paranormal challenges like The JREF Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge; the Independent Investigations Group(IIG) offers a $50,000 prize [to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event.] which I might add, everyone to-date who has helped design their own test have failed. ;O) Katalyzt

+El Santo, No need for me to research, as I already know about the JREF's requirements both past and present. ;O) As far as the “preliminaries”, they are co-designed by the claimant/testee themselves with help from the JREF, bases on what the claimant/testee claims their abilities are. And once these tests and protocols are created the claimant signs off on the them. Whereby, they agree that the test that they co-designed is fitting and correct to gauge their stated “abilities”. ;O) I suggest that you do more research on The JREF Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge for your own information, as you seem completely misinformed. And just to give you a start on your research, here are four video examples of the preliminary tests being administered(to non-famous claimants): 2012 - Andrew Needles - /watch?v=wHs0vM3gRTA (running time 1:45:59) 2013 - Connie Sonne - /watch?v=U_qiG9PUiaQ (Part 1) 2013 - Connie Sonne - /watch?v=USw7XXT0RXk (Part 2) 2013 - Connie Sonne - /watch?v=zavQQe76xS8 (Part 3) 2013 - Connie Sonne - /watch?v=coLE93t1R0A (Part 4) Another 2013 - Brahim Addoun - /watch?v=_dwQFlAIbxY (running time 51:58) 2014 Fei Wang - /watch?v=l20jQj0FZ_E (running time 49:52) Remember these double blind tests and their protocols are all co-designed and agreed upon by the claimants/testees(Andrew Needles, Connie Sonne, Brahim Addoun, and Fei Wang) and people with the JREF(like Jamy Ian Swiss, Banachek, Chip Denman, and Richard Saunders). ;O) P.S. “BTW, the fund has since been allocated to other things. It no longer exists.” Now you have proved that you have no clue what you are talking about. Again, I suggest that you do some research before posting more nonsense. The James Randi Educational Foundation's Million Dollar Challenge is still in effect. I will help you out again, since you are grossly misinformed. If you or anyone else doubts it, then you can verify this truth here: tinyurl.com/jmfsge3 (From the JREF official website) As the link shows; the people at the JREF are currently installing the new 2016 “minimum required protocols” in an attempt to weed out the ridiculous: “VERY eccentric and untestable claims”, yet still “any established psychic” can contact the “JREF via email to be tested directly”. ;O) So, contrary to your statement the Million Dollar Challenge is still in effect. ;O) P.P.S. Also, the point I was trying to convey with the “Independent Investigations Group(IIG)” is that besides The JREF Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, there are many many other challenges currently out there for which no one who has taken these tests/challenges/bets have shown under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult powers or events. Which I might add, everyone to-date who has helped design their own test have failed them. ;O) So again, the James Randi Educational Foundation's Million Dollar Challenge is still going, along with other paranormal challenges like: The Alfredo Barrago's €50,000 Bet, and/or The Australian Skeptics A$100,000 Challenge, and/or The 1,000,000 RUB($13,181) Harry Houdini Prize, and/or The Independent Investigations Group US$100,000 Challenge, and/or The Science and Rationalists' Association of India, and/or The Prabir Ghosh 2,500,000($29,480) Challenge, and/or The SKEPP Sisyphus €25,000 Prize, or anyone of the many other paranormal challenges currently out there. :O) I entreat you to please do your research before replying back to me. ;O) Katalyzt

SOME of those people must have been lying when they didn't raise their hand when he said "how many people believe in ghosts" - there's more evidence for ghosts than there is for god,..and I bet a LOT of those people would have raised their hands had he asked "how many believe in god?"
@thecofounders9 жыл бұрын
by definition, there can be no empirical evidence of god on this earth. there is evidence of a singular force that we can deduce through logic (could be energy, or something else, not necessarily god). ghosts are supposed to be observable. saying you believe in god is less absurd than saying you believe in ghosts. even when i used to believe in god, i didn't believe in paranormal activity on earth because of the lack of proof.
@bigmattman20059 жыл бұрын
+jbenvenga This. There's not enough evidence for either. Having said that, there is no way to FULLY approve or dispute these claims and must leave most of them "as is" for whoever decides to believe. In the case of Claronium 780's point, society has the mass effect on what is believed with the supernatural and what would be looked at as "stupid". From there it's friends and family. This has always been the case, always. On the other hand, certain things can DEFINITELY be disputed. But, like most people that believe one thing, just because something was shown to be wrong (no matter how much proof) doesn't mean it IS wrong and furthermore doesn't mean the entire belief is wrong. Personally, I was this way for a while, then I took a 3rd person perspective of my religion, read the Bible from front to back and saw the many different lies, loopholes and fallacies. Jesus was said to have "talked in parables", which is a fancy way of saying that he made a very general statement/story and when those that believe listened, they felt he was speaking about them. Much like fortune cookies.

It's funny how at the end, after a great episode with the amazing debunker James Randi, the host compares believing global warming with believing Christianity. One is one of the most researched and understood scientific concepts in existence, and the other is a religion that relies on faith. Pretty odd comparison.
