I remember about 35 years ago that the Stouffers was detectable. It's a shame how much they cut back on all the goodness it once possessed. There used to be tons of sausage and beef, and their cheese game was on point. Even the tomato sauce has suffered over time. It really has lowered in quality since I used to eat it back in late 70's and early 80's. Come to think of it, many products are shadows of their former selves.

welsco Stouffer's probably for the last 25 years has been owned by Nestle Foods. they're not the original out of Solon Ohio that they used to be with their little cooking Factory outside of Cleveland. the plants still there but it's made by Nestle now just like a lot of great stuff we remember his kids made by ConAgra. perfect example take a look at the throwback chef boyardee, those are awesome if you can find them but then I'll send you look over and you see it's not quite what you remember there's a big difference why well because that was before ConAgra bought out franco-american chef boyardee which is all a part of Campbell's. however Campbell's is also a part of ConAgra. just like Stouffer's is a part of nestle Foods

As Italians, after my mother got older, she would buy the Stouffer's lasagna and cook the large container for us. After a while, we never knew the difference...we did at first but it passed quickly; when my aunts caught on and bought Stouffer's...we forgot what the old lasagna tasted like. Nonni quit making the old lasagna and switched. For decades we've been eating Stouffer's. lol :)

When i have a hankering for some good old fashion Italian Lasagna, i make it on the weekend. A huge portion that i can cut up and freeze into portions, don't forget that middle layer of ricotta cheese, that's how you do it, yes it does take some time...but it's SO worth it. Anything store bought doesn't even come close. Thx Larry for your vid, as always, hopefully people get the message. Peace! EDIT: My Lasagna costs me around 25$ Canadian in ingredients and makes roughly 8-10 portions...so you do the math, so worth it.

Please keep them coming. I highly recommend grabbing another Fray Bentos pie. The dough underneath may appear undercooked, but it's part of the package ;) The steaming meat/gravy etc. contribute to that. It's totally safe :) Thanks for reviewing British food as well - seems to have gone down well. I have no idea how you're going to do this in your country, but if you ever get your hands on pie & mash - give it a try. Please google - it's a London/cockney food. Two upturned pies full of beef alongside mash potato with a green erm...sauce (we call it liquor) made from parsley. Be sure to soak that mother in dark vinegar. You find that one in the US and I will eat my arse.

I had the great value one today, and yes, I had a hard time with the plastic as well. I thought it wasn't that bad, the sauce was a little too sweet for me, but mine had a good amount of meat. I liked that the salt was lower than I expected, but anything had to be better than the banquets I recently ate! I'll have to look for the stouffers. My local Walmart was running a special on their great value, which ran .97 . Hard to pass them up.

I've had the GV lasagna more often then I care to admit, and honestly, the noodle alone makes it worth it. Speaking of "what are we eating?". My daughter, way back in her younger days, worked at a local Italian restaurant. The Lasagna was a favorite of the customers. It got raves. Since my daughter was in the kitchen she knew the truth. Turns out they were serving Stouffer's! But everybody loved it so sometimes that works out. I like Stouffer's myself although we don't eat many processed foods these days. I might give in on this one.

my stepfather does'nt cook much, all cooking is done by my mother, but when my stepdad does cook, we're all salivating because we know what we're eating. The best lasagna in the world. my stepfather uses the recipe his mother gave him, he followed it ever since. then a couple years ago, my mom started making her own spagheti sauce, her sauce is no normal meat sauce, it's not very liquid, because that's how it's supposed to be, in fact it's solid enough to be used ad a stand alone dish or taco filling. and it tastes great. pair that with my stepfather's lasagna and you'd wish your friends were there and before you know it the pot is empty.

My dad gets lasagna from a local pizzeria sometimes, one time he ordered it when I came over and I told him it's probably Stouffer's and that's what a lot of pizza places use. He was pretty damn dismissive of it, "no, there's no way it's too good to be frozen", but I could tell immediately when I opened mine up that it was definitely Stouffer's. It's pretty damn good stuff, good enough to fool my pa who makes a pretty mean lasagna himself.

did you use uncooked lasagna noodles in the demo at the beginning of the video? I always cooked them kinda al dente and then layered them and baked it.

You definitely have to put the frozen lasagna’s in the oven because the microwave high wattage can actually dry the pasta. Also let the lasagna set for like a solid 20 minutes it’ll even be much better than in the microwave. You’ll probably bump your rating up to an eight. I don’t even bother to touch a great value brand on anything I did once back in 08 in middle school never did again.

I’ve had the same experience with the smaller Stouffers being soupier than the party/family sizes. I’m single but still buy the larger size and cut and freeze the leftovers.

I, like you, Wolfie, like Stouffer's Lasagna, but the meat free. I have always found the meat too tough. The 5 Cheese is my preferred Lasagna. My guilty pleasure is ALWAYS to add additional cheese. Just GOTTA. I NEVER microwave always bake in the oven. I just think it's better. Cheese is always tougher in the microwave. And I LOVE my gooey cheese! Love your vids! Thanks!!

It's funny that you say that the black study package was familiar because in Brazil I think all frozen lasagna comes in the flimsy paper container thing. With the impossible to remove plastic film.

I really like the Stouffer's lasagna. I usually buy extra mozzarella cheese and i have some Italian seasonings at home as well as as bag of pepperoni slices which i stick between the layers after it's cooked. I always buy the biggest size and after i eat all i want i separate the rest and place them in pieces of foil and stick them in my deep freezer.

Have you tried On-Cor's Lasagna & Meat Sauce? It only comes in a family-size tray, but it's cheap & convenient for a weeknight supper. I'm sure the family-size version of Stouffer's lasagna is superior, but it's normally either too expensive or only in stock in too large a package for a household of 3 like mine.
