Good choice! and Congrats! I flip alot of watches. Especially for this channel. This one I still have and is a forever watch for me. Very rare to find. I go through 100 watches before I find 1 keeper usually! haha

@@EscapementWatch True. I flip quite a bit too. I have a few keepers but will be selling my Omega aqua terra 41 silver dial here shortly. Bracelet and rubber strap. Just bought the bb58 .925. Put a black vanguard fitted rubber strap on it. Looks wicked. Boy that silver scratches easy though. Oh well it's a keeper anywho.

nice choice :) stowa fliegers are superb and come with a storied past. great quality and finishing at the price point, with rock solid eta movements. recently got the verus flieger and have been chuffed since. the sterile looking dial with no branding and or date is a nice nod to the past. whilst the leather strap is lovely and soft with high quality finishing, the verus looks superb on a host of nato/zulu natos. it was worth very cent. keep up the good work here.

This looks soo good here in your video, especially with that strap, which seems like just the right shade of brown. I think this is the configuration I would choose too, except I'd want the engraved Stowa logo on the side.

Everyone low-key loves tool-like field/pilot watches. Maybe it's my age, 33 going on 53, but I feel like legibility is pretty useful. I have a number of beautiful dress watches with baton indices and I always have to think twice about which hand is pointing to what. I should probably just get a G-Shock or something.

The only thing I don't like about the watch is the placement of the date window. Sinn for example is much better with this, very stealth small number around the 5. But I do need the date as well, I think it is actually useful to be able to check it quickly

The Stowa ETA movement is gonna blow any of your Seiko movements out of the water. I have both and my Seiko 6R35 is junk in comparison to my ETA, hell it's junk compared to my Selita. Seiko used to impress me but when they can't even align a bezel after making dive watches since 1960 then you begin to understand how lazy they've become. As a matter of fact, my SPB is in service after only two years for losing over a minute a day and I requested they correct the bezel alignment and she called to tell me that it's just my eyes and the crystal bend that makes it look that way. 🙄. Guess I've lost my eye sight since sending it in for service. Great purchase on your Stowa and I hope you enjoy or have enjoyed it as much as I have mine. Thanks for the great review!

Just curious what device did you watch the video on because every device is hearing the background music differently so I would like to know was it too loud

Hi - watched initially on my iPhone then my laptop. It wasn’t a case of being too loud - it was such a good video and review I don’t see the need to add music in the background - especially when it’s a longer review - but of course background music is subjective..

Have you tried on the 36mm? I don't think my 6.5" wrist will like the 40mm with its long lugs...
@EscapementWatch4 жыл бұрын
Not on the stowa but when i wear a 36/37mm watch it always feels to small for me.

This sold me on it. Just ordered one. 40mm/manual. Was a little concerned about the 40mm size but I read the comments and asked around. I have a 7.25" wrist but don't like huge watches. I've been told I should be okay. After all it's not meant to be a small vintage Explorer 1 or field watch. Your thoughts?
@EscapementWatch2 жыл бұрын
I think you are good with your wrist size! I just sold this watch a couple days ago, to help fund a 39mm flieger. My tastes are down trending in size. As I speak I'm wearing a vintage 36.7mm King Seiko.
@wwolf56702 жыл бұрын
@@EscapementWatch Thanks for the reply! I do prefer smaller watches. My daily wear is a vintage chrono in 38. If Stowa offered the watch in 38 I'd have zero question in my mind. That said at one point I even wore 42-44 mm divers. Was out of my mind for going that big. Talk about a brick on your wrist! Splendid watch, although I don't get why it wasn't well regulated for the price. My ~$500 Hamilton Khaki Field runs betw. +0.5 and +2 s/d (factory regulated). If you can regulate the watch yourself provided you have the tools, then it can definitely be done easily in the factory. That's what I find off-putting in these more expensive watches.
@EscapementWatch3 жыл бұрын
I'm just going to assume it's because of the high volume and if it's in within spec it's good enough for them
@martinrea85483 жыл бұрын
I'm very impressed with the accuracy of my Khaki Field too. After a day on the wrist it is still in sync with the iPhone I set it against. That's pretty remarkable for a mechanical watch.

Ok so I like long videos and maybe you will like my rambling, lengthy and perhaps coma-inducing comment. ( I'll buy you a coffee to wake you) . So I have had a months long back and forth with this. It was in my cart on a Friday night in early March but I had some questions I wanted to ask them about a different strap, the engravings ( that fliger number costs about $40 btw, they still offer it) anyway, by Monday things had gone kinda crazy with the Covid thing and I was like ...maybe I better wait. I joined Adrian's group right when it began and met a fellow there with this watch and then I was going to buy in again, but more waffling on the size. I think I would need the 36mm, but maybe not... As time went on yeah, i kinda went crazy buying watches but let me say, had I seen this video in March I'd own this now. I am sure you have noticed that in most of the KZbins on this model, it just doesn't look very good. the dial looks dull, I hadn't seen the fine brushing etc. Then I even bought the Yema "flieger" type watch, so I thought I was done with that category, but now you've drawn me back in. That onion crown is amazing. and yes I would absolutely get the logo and the date. Don't care what the purists say. It looks so good. That +14 seconds is a bit of a bummer and I can't regulate, so hmmm. anyway. Great review, you might have sold me again.
@EscapementWatch4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the coffee bro! once again! This one is easy to regulate vs seikos. Its safe. Just turn a tiny screw. left or right. anyone can do it on an ETA!
