@@unitedstatesirie7431 the only thing goofy is your non sequitur comment.
@cplinstructor4 ай бұрын
@@Hornet135 How is that non sequitur? Non sequitur means “does not follow,” which means a comment that does not logically follow the last. His comment does logically follow, yours does not, therefore it is you who made a non sequitur comment. Or more appropriately just an ignorant one. 5.7 sucks ballistically, it’s basically just a rimless .22 Magnum with most loadings, except much more expensive. Yes, there are some decent loadings available but they are $3+ per round, and while decent you could certainly do better for cheaper, like the .22 hornet as was mentioned. Since it is a single shot .300 Blackout would also be a good choice, as would .357 Magnum as other comments are suggesting.
@Hornet1354 ай бұрын
@@cplinstructor his comment doesn’t follow because he said “You are wrong. The .22 hornet has higher velocity…” He’s arguing against something that was never contended by the OP, and nothing the original post said was wrong. 5.7 is known for its high velocity and low recoil. He never said it has the highest velocity of any round known to mankind, so it is just weird to follow with something about .22 Hornet when that’s a light varmint rifle cartridge. 5.7 in a pistol is roughly the same performance as .22 WMR from a rifle. It has its niche, but it’s expensive for what it is.
@cplinstructor4 ай бұрын
@@Hornet135 I believe what he was implying was that if velocity is your measure of performance (and that is really 5.7s “thing” then you could do better. I would wager that .22 hornet is probably a better performer too.

@cplinstructor4 ай бұрын
Cool concept, sucky caliber. 5.7 Is very hyped but unless you want to buy super premium ammunition for around $3 a round it pretty much sucks ballistically. .22 Magnum can do everything it can do but cheaper. Make this in .22 Magnum and I might want one, or hell since it’s a single shot, why not .300 Blackout? Now THAT would be cool, especially suppressed. Be a lot more useful for survival too I’d think, because now you’d have enough punch to reliably take down a deer, or even a hostile human if you had to. Do yeah, .22 Magnum or .300 Blackout and you have a winner. 5.7 it’s just a toy.
@infantry15603 ай бұрын
only problem is .22 mag isn't center fire like a 5.7
@cplinstructor3 ай бұрын
@@infantry1560 I never said that .22 Magnum was good, just that ballistically 5.7 is basically the same, I.E. not very good and for the cost it makes more sense to buy .22 Magnum. Also remember that this is a SINGLE SHOT WEAPON so it being a rimmed cartridge is completely irrelevant as there can be no feeding issues. Fun history for you: .25 ACP was originally made as a target round, specifically to be a centerfire alternative to .22 LR for better function in semi automatics. However, while both calibers are terrible for self defense .22 LR is both more affordable and more effective than .25 ACP. I could draw the same comparison between 5.7 and .22 Magnum with .22 Magnum being the better choice. (Yes I am aware that 5.7 was designed to replace 9mm, not .22 Magnum, but it failed miserably at that)

Fully loaded, with a sling, it weighs just a bit over 4 pounds. Having the ability to fire birdshot, buckshot, and 300 grain .45 Colt loads, means you can hunt literally any bird or mammal in North America. And if ammunition becomes scarce, you can easily handload your own, and even use black powder, if that's all you have. You can even make your own black powder if you need to.
