I feel like if they had made this so that it would work with PSA Rock or Ruger 5.7 mags it would be so much better. Single loading is no doubt easier to manufacture but if I was using it as an actual survival rifle I would want something that has a good amount of ammo stored inside it since you can't always grab a fistful of ammo.

Agreed. If it were actually smaller, it would make more sense, but it is just a regular pistol with a brace and single shot. Makes more sense to put a brace on a known pistol. Make an alternate frame with a mount on the back.

The 5.7x28mm round is known for its impressive velocity and low recoil, which could make this a handy choice in a survival scenario. I'm curious to see how it holds up over time, especially in rugged conditions.

@cplinstructor
@cplinstructor 4 ай бұрын
@@Hornet135 How is that non sequitur? Non sequitur means “does not follow,” which means a comment that does not logically follow the last. His comment does logically follow, yours does not, therefore it is you who made a non sequitur comment. Or more appropriately just an ignorant one. 5.7 sucks ballistically, it’s basically just a rimless .22 Magnum with most loadings, except much more expensive. Yes, there are some decent loadings available but they are $3+ per round, and while decent you could certainly do better for cheaper, like the .22 hornet as was mentioned. Since it is a single shot .300 Blackout would also be a good choice, as would .357 Magnum as other comments are suggesting.
@Hornet135
@Hornet135 4 ай бұрын
@@cplinstructor his comment doesn’t follow because he said “You are wrong. The .22 hornet has higher velocity…” He’s arguing against something that was never contended by the OP, and nothing the original post said was wrong. 5.7 is known for its high velocity and low recoil. He never said it has the highest velocity of any round known to mankind, so it is just weird to follow with something about .22 Hornet when that’s a light varmint rifle cartridge. 5.7 in a pistol is roughly the same performance as .22 WMR from a rifle. It has its niche, but it’s expensive for what it is.
@cplinstructor
@cplinstructor 4 ай бұрын
@@Hornet135 I believe what he was implying was that if velocity is your measure of performance (and that is really 5.7s “thing” then you could do better. I would wager that .22 hornet is probably a better performer too.

Cool concept, sucky caliber. 5.7 Is very hyped but unless you want to buy super premium ammunition for around $3 a round it pretty much sucks ballistically. .22 Magnum can do everything it can do but cheaper. Make this in .22 Magnum and I might want one, or hell since it’s a single shot, why not .300 Blackout? Now THAT would be cool, especially suppressed. Be a lot more useful for survival too I’d think, because now you’d have enough punch to reliably take down a deer, or even a hostile human if you had to. Do yeah, .22 Magnum or .300 Blackout and you have a winner. 5.7 it’s just a toy.

only problem is .22 mag isn't center fire like a 5.7
@cplinstructor
@cplinstructor 3 ай бұрын
@@infantry1560 I never said that .22 Magnum was good, just that ballistically 5.7 is basically the same, I.E. not very good and for the cost it makes more sense to buy .22 Magnum. Also remember that this is a SINGLE SHOT WEAPON so it being a rimmed cartridge is completely irrelevant as there can be no feeding issues. Fun history for you: .25 ACP was originally made as a target round, specifically to be a centerfire alternative to .22 LR for better function in semi automatics. However, while both calibers are terrible for self defense .22 LR is both more affordable and more effective than .25 ACP. I could draw the same comparison between 5.7 and .22 Magnum with .22 Magnum being the better choice. (Yes I am aware that 5.7 was designed to replace 9mm, not .22 Magnum, but it failed miserably at that)

Tiny survival rifles are becoming very popular. I don't know if that's good or bad, because similar firearms were made during the depression. I got the Rossi .45/.410 Tuffy survival rifle, because it's chambered in my favorite handgun cartridge, AND my favorite shotgun cartridge. I swore I would never buy another Rossi, but it's well made. Fully loaded, with a sling, it weighs just a bit over 4 pounds. Having the ability to fire birdshot, buckshot, and 300 grain .45 Colt loads, means you can hunt literally any bird or mammal in North America. And if ammunition becomes scarce, you can easily handload your own, and even use black powder, if that's all you have. You can even make your own black powder if you need to.

@@mrsmith8436 5.7 has gone down in Price. To where it can be shot as cheap as 50 cents around. Although granted, this is talking about FMJ practice rounds. So still more expensive than 22 magnum hunting ammo you could buy for 25 to 30 cents a round. But a 40gr 5.7 out of a 5in pistol is going to have Similar ballistics to a 40gr .22 mag out of the 16in rifle. But 5.7 out of 16 is going to be more than 100FPS faster than a .22mag. Not to mention 57 has the benefits of being a centrifier. So the trade-off is going to be cost or Velocity and reloadability. Do you want a $200 Single shot 22 magnum rifle with a 16 inch barrel, or Have the same Ballistic performance in Something more compact and will not take up a lot of space in your truck bag or Survival kit? There's a trade-off to everything and everyone Has different needs/ Desires.

@@mrsmith8436 5.7 is a rather good choice for an ultralite single shot survival gun. Based on previous calibers used in aircraft bailout kits .22 Hornet, .22LR, .410 shotgun 1. Its a NATO standard now, and will be in NATO air forces supply chain. There is about 15 different military loads for 5.7 2. Extremely lightweight, waterproof, compact round of ammunition that you can carry alot of in limited spaces. 50 for the space and weight of 20 5.56. 3. Subsonic loads specifically for suppressed use 62gr, important as a downed airman behind enemy lines. 4. 9 hole reviews recently tested a 10.5 “ barreled PS90 out to 500 meters, you should watch the KZbin video… even they were surprised . This is a good thing in a 4 pound mini carbine.

Of course one problem I see with this as a compact take down gun, is that even taken down, the pistol is barely smaller, and considerably fheavier than a Ruger 5.7. The rifle at least is much lighter, shorter and less expensive than the Ruger LC in 5.7. Though I'd prefer a right hand bolt on the rifle version. The left hand bolt does make sense on the pistol, especially if used without a brace.

it needs a magazine, and pricewise vs performance a 22 wmr would be a better pick but nice try

...Hopefully this ends up being offered in 22lr and 22wmr. My choice would be a 22lr pistol wearing a folding brace and a suppressor. Cheap to feed, and mouse fart quiet and packable. My idea of the perfect woods blaster. In 5.7, no thanks...
