I learned of Dr. Hahn on EWTN Mother Angelica’s show in the early 1980s and specifically after my Cursillo Weekend in May 1996, I delved right into his book the Journey Home. From there on, I’ve been with you Dr. Hahn & your wife, Kim…and I sure rejoiced when one of your sons became a priest. God is great & rejoices with all the great things you’re doing for Him and our Church.

@curtisthoene65073 жыл бұрын
Agreed 100%. This can be relatable to going to Mass as well. I hear all the time people saying "my church service is cooler than yours! We jammed out with guitars and drums and danced!". You need to ask yourself, "are you going for yourself; for your entertainment; to disregard it when it's no longer entertainment? Or, are you truly going for the Lord, to worship him in the Sacrifice of the Mass?"
@marianweigh64113 жыл бұрын
@@curtisthoene6507 I agree. All the elements like music etc. should bring us into prayer, humility, and remembrance of God - not to glory in our own entertainment and pleasure. I go to a service on a college campus with piano and voice, and they do some contemporary songs in a sacred and worshipful way. They are not drawing attention to themselves; they are praising God. It can be deeply moving. (So personally I can attest to the possiblity that a different style of song - in the same liturgy - are not necessarily just another curated experience for self-pleasure, as you describe.) Faith is not an emotion, but an act of the intellect and the will working together through the heart. The Mass should be occasion to open and lift our hearts to God - to contemplate who he is, what he's done and does for us, and to conform ourselves to his will, his plan of salvation. When we sing the Gloria, it is fantastic if we feel the joy of those incomparable exclamations! - yet our joy is in the Lord and his glory, not in ourselves.

I have read the whole Bible and took notes and I am proud that I was able to do this . I was so immersed when reading it that I sometimes cannot contain my excitement and shared some of the events I read to my husband and my sis in law .. it is really life changing .. I encouraged everyone to do the same . Before I read only bits of everything but ut is different when you actually read it cover to cover . I started with the New Testament first before racking the Old Testament which I am glad I did coz Old Testament has a lot of violent events which you could only fully understand why , after reading the New Testament first . Anyway, this discussion between Dr and Fr is a testament why we really should read the Bible . I was asked several times before the smartphones existed what is my religion since I carry Bible to read if I am free from seeing my patients and when I tell them I am Catholic, they are surprised . This was the time when I read just bits of everything . Now , I know that so many Catholics are now starting to read the whole Bible . When I retired , I want to teach catechism again . This time around , I am better and hopefully help in strengthening faith May God bless me in this endeavor .., Amen
