This is why people say black culture is American culture. It has influences from Africa and Europe and pre-colonial America, but it's the first and only American culture formed totally in the United States and by Americans with no ties to any other continent.

This is I don’t know this must be a very immigrant experience because as a black American as an African-American specifically literally everything that we do is a creation that is solely American because we have no country of origin we are a mixture of peoples here in this country But like hip-hop rap rock ‘n’ roll EDM jazz blues R&B country music literally everything that is African American culture is uniquely American culture as well Also did he forget indigenous people exist in this country like what that was such a dumb answer and I don’t know if that’s because he’s either a first generation American or he’s just visiting America but like I can’t even blame it on him being an immigrant because I know Hella immigrant people who are first generation Americans or they literally literally recently immigrated and they wouldn’t say something silly like this

my thoughts exactly! I was just going to comment about indigenous peoples myself. ..and even the immigrants that later populated the US (at great expense of its natives) created cultural impacts of their own like all things ‘western’, gulf coast Cajuns, and southern culinary. Music impact was a solid call out! ❤

His comment is so unbelievably ignorant, African American culture is responsible for pretty much all of modern music, from rock to blues, jazz… they are the only reason The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin and Beatles existed! This is just a grain of sand to what, specifically African Americans, have contributed to the world! I am American and white and an independent and no way am I having it! These are just undeniable facts no matter what country or political party you may be from!
