It must be difficult for artists to accept such honest criticism. Ego needs to hide for a while, haha. But this is my favorite part. You can definitely learn a lot and better understand the process of creating good art. I bow to each of them for their courage.

Abstract art is subjective to the viewer. Asia, your piece was one of my favorites! Sad they placed you last. I hate this scoring thing. I think your piece looked like an abstract of a still life with red roses. ❤🌹

Yes I didn't understand that at all. Asia's turned out so special- especially for a mini challenge with so many impossible rules. I'm surprised anyone could create something attractive.

Personally, Asia's is one of my favourites in the first mini challenge. I love how it makes me feel and it inspires me. I LOVE where it's going and it wouldn't take much to make this POP. I love this challenge because for the last several years, I have been challenging myself to be more raw and expressive and this is how I start my first layers as a way to loosen up and have fun like I approached it as a child. I've been trying to restore a part of me I feel I lost in a fancy art institution. I like to play and see where it's going to go without source images and it's fun to see what emerges. I wanted to really loosen up and let the painting speak to me back and forth like a dance until it feels complete. Truthfully it rarely does feel finished to me. My paintings escape my studio before I have had a chance to paint the sides or varnish them. Anyways, Asia, if you see this, I like where you were going with this. I would encourage you to play and experiment more again like this. There's something there I think. It kind of reminds me of Robert Burridge's work before he gets in and out with a wide brush to tighten the composition and colour story at the end. I know you couldn't use a brush in this challenge, but just saying, maybe explore this a little more. ❤ from a fellow artist.

I actually think it would be great if all artists could stay till the end or their works and achievements before the elimination challenge influence the decision. Because for me there were artists who had to go because one painting wasn’t that good when most of their other works were at the top. I noticed that in this as well as in the other season. It would be a much better appreciation of their skill I think. Other than that, I like that you’re pushing them and letting room for them to learn and grow during the show. Which kind of also underlines my point of determining the winner based on all the points 😅❤

It would be so nice if the artworks were displayed properly when they are being critiqued. Some kind of frame or a clean display board, or a mat around them would really help everyone understand what the piece would look like on a wall.

I never know what to call it. I go into a different space, and it just comes out. I never know how long I was painting for then I blink and it all becomes clear. I take a step back and see a picture I made second by second but didn't think about what I was doing. Im not sure how I did it. I was in my right brain sweet...❤

The quality of artwork is subjective. However, I completely disagree with the judging in this competition. Roxani should NOT have been eliminated. Brie should have been eliminated, because her artwork was the lease successful in this challenge. If the Milan family were the ones making the final decision in the judging process, in my opinion the outcome really calls into question their professional decision making process. Their subjective reasoning is highly suspect in my opinion.

Bring the far things near they say. Completely out of your head they say. Don’t listen to the critic they say. Tap into your right brain creating they say. Go to lah lah land they say. Let the canvas talk to you they say. Oh, you’re half way through? How about we come critique you and tell you what your painting is lacking and what we think should be on the canvas. Forget about what your canvas was supposed to be telling you. We will override your creativity. Blah blah blah. This challenge is out of OUR HEAD.

I think it’s a mistake to critique in this episode- to let the painting tell you what it wants and then to interrupt that, short circuits the surprise unfolding.

Roxani did a way better job than Brie and Alanna. And how Alanna won top spot is beyond my understanding. I love this show, but I feel as if the judges' opinions and style are way too similar, and they create a family echo chamber when critiquing and judging artwork (Milan family--Ellie, Dimitra, and Jake who is Dimitra's husband). I also think just one or two judges is not enough, especially when they are family with similar style, taste, and opinions. I think if they had two or three more judges OUTSIDE of the family with different style, taste, snd opinions that the judging results would have been much more fair. But, this IS the Milan family's competition show.

Asia is the best artist in my opinion but she doesn't get enough credit... these competitions can break people when judging is so subjective..the judges base their criticisms based on what they like and not what constitutes a good piece of work.
@smallbones13
@smallbones13 8 ай бұрын
You are simply wrong. She is top 3 for sure, but the critique is ultimately about composition, color, sellability, etc. Asia sometimes has self doubt and confidence issues which reflects in her work. All I see is the judges constantly encouraging her to be herself, and on the odd chance that her composition or other art element is a little off, they will let her know. That only serves to improve her work, her judgment, her skills, etc. If LEARNING can "break people" then we really have a problem. Or maybe it's just you projecting your mental fragility. Asia is doing great, I wish her well in this competition and beyond! 💜

hey just my opinion, there is no wrong or right, just opinion especially when it comes to art... some of my favourite art comes from children becausee its pure and unjudged.. Scoring art is inherently flawed , its not like Maths where there's a definitive answer. I am an art teacher but i think its my job to allow them to express themselves and not criticise. Perhaps you might like to look at your own judgements of others also. Who is projecting here ! Have a great day smallbones. @@smallbones13

Again, I am disappointed in who the judges have chosen. Guess I have bad taste, or there is a plot to raise and low certain peoples scores. I did like Esther's painting, but the eliminated contest painting was better than some of the other paintings.
