i love how andy and rec are so supportive and educated on this. as a queer person, i think it’s important for straight people to learn about these things so that they know more than just the stereotypes and all. i low key got rlly emotional watching this because they both genuinely care and love you so much😭 love you

I love this video! As a bi girl, having straight people like Andy and Rec who are comfortable, educated, and genuinely excited talking about gay relationships/ stereotypes we have, genuinely make me feel safe. It honestly heals a bit of the trauma I have. It’s so damaging as a gay person seeing a lot of straight people not want to be around you or seeming uncomfortable having conversations around being gay. So having straight friends that treat u normally is so comforting. Honestly started tearing up a little bit! It’s so rare to see (especially from guys). Thank you, we love you Andy and Rec
@ohbubbl3s Жыл бұрын
I love this video because not only are Andy and Rec so openly supportive, they aren’t afraid to be there for Brian. There’s a lot of cis straight people that are afraid to defend a queer person because they don’t want to be seen as queer too and that can be the problem in the world. This is a W video. W friends. I love these type of videos because it gives me hope that there is support out there from other communities. ❤

This is a great channel. Thank your sharing it with the world, Brian. If I were asked about how I would figure out whether or not I could hit on a guy at a bar, my answer would be that I wouldn't. The risk of a straight guy retaliating against me with extreme violence for doing so is incredibly high. In recent years homophobes have felt increasingly emboldened to be more open and expressive in their hatred of the lgbt community.

How about a challenge where all three of you have to do the same thing. Whomever is comfortable doing the activity gets a candy {or chocolate ball or something edible}; and who ends up with the least amount has to get blasted with ice cold slime/jello. {example 1: go to the beach in speedos for 2 hours and interreact with people} {example 2: cuddle on the couch and watch a gay themed movie} {example 3: eat giga spicy corn chips} there's more than 10% of the population that's like you Brian, they just aren't all out/open yet. And there's also pigs and slobs and himbos who are varying levels of low maintenance -ooh but they can rock your world just the same.

I have had the funniest discussions around this issue. At first, these guys claim that they are insulted that someone would think that they are gay. However, after a while, most of them admit that their reaction is based on fear. This fear was based on the belief that gay guys were just like straight guys. Given the right situation, they would have sex with ANYONE! This fear is based on the amazing amount of stories about straight men having gay sex in prisons, during long military deployments, and in fraternities. Of course, the most famous situations arise from the "I was so drunk last night scenarios." All of these situations highlight the fear that it be easy to convince them to have sex with another guy. AND that they might enjoy it!

I think that the other straight guy's explanation of the second question is accurate. I think that most people who say "you should meet..." are playing matchmaker. I know a lot of non black people who say "you should meet (another black person)." They are usually matchmaking, networking, or trying to prove that they are not racist. The question that annoys me is "do you know..."

I get what Brian is saying about being gay but open to kissing a girl and not really bisexual because when you’re already queer you’re kind of open to many different things without it being such a huge break from who you are. I’m a bisexual/pan cis woman and in my experience with gay people vs straight people, straight people are typically more concerned with diverging from the norm whereas most gays and lesbians are like “okay whatever.”
@BrianTerada Жыл бұрын
RIGHT!! that was so well said. I love what you said about how queer people aren’t as afraid to diverge from the norm because, well, we already are divergent from the “norm”. Love it
@JohnnyHandsometm Жыл бұрын
I truly like people who say I wouldn’t or didn’t even know you were gay until you told me because I view myself as just a man who likes other men. Yes, I have my “YAS QUEEN” & “SLAY/VOGUE THE HOUSE DOWN BOOTS” moments, but I don’t identify with the whole “overtly feminine gay man” stigma/stereotype. I also find it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to meet or even find other gay men that are, for lack of a better term, more masculine type gay men.
@GREENSOURBALL11 ай бұрын
At this point I’m finding less and less REAL gay men who aren’t just bisexual but call their self gay cause they’re mostly into men. That crap is mad annoying. No such thing as 90% gay or 90% straight. Either you’re gay (ONLY LIKE THE SAME SEX) or straight (ONLY LIKE THE OPPOSITE SEX). There is no in between when it comes to these two identities

@jessicablack996010 ай бұрын
For me, saying “that’s gay” is rarely offensive. The only way I’d find it offensive is if it was blatantly obvious that someone meant it in a degrading way and disliked gay people. It might be personal bias because growing up my family was so homophobic that they would never make any gay jokes or say something is gay because the term was very taboo. So, in a way, when people say “that’s gay” it makes me feel like they are accepting and comfortable with the term.
@spht9ng23 күн бұрын
It's just slightly questionable if you have no idea where the person saying it stands on the morality of being gay or if they hold prejudice against gay people. Sometimes I won't think much of someone saying 'that's gay' but then i'll hear them say other ignorant things about how they don't let gay people around their kids because they think they're more likely to be child predators.
@jessicablack996023 күн бұрын
@ yes I agree with that. If they’re saying other homophobic things then it changes my perspective on them using the term. I think it really just depends on the context of them using it and why they say it.
