Newbie here! Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Just been bitten by the ham-bug at 54 years of age, I am so happy that they took mores-code out of the technician class license. I’m tone death, and I have tried to learn it many years ago. I don’t know how you learn it but I wish I knew it! ~M~ 73 and clear. Hope I got that right.

Ok Mike, great to hear you are getting into ham, there are so many things you can do on there these days, something of interest for anyone. I am still exploring new things on ham all the time and got my ticket in 1977, I will never catch up to it all, ha ha. My next adventure will be playing with SDR radio using a TV dongle for about 20 bucks. I was never great at code but still really enjoy listening to CW and get on the air once in a while. I think now it is not required, more interest.

Really enjoyed your video. I was a radioman in the Navy. Kodiak, Alaska, and aboard ship in Viet Nam. I had a speed key ticket at one time and could send/receive 30 wpm. Not nearly that fast now. About half that. Just been viewing some websites and KZbin videos re: morse code. I was good at it 50 years ago and not bad now. You never forget the code. Thanks so much. 73's

Thanks! My next project here will be setting up SDR with the TV dongle, looking forward to that. The article in QST mag recently got me interested and now I have to do it, lol. So I will probably be checking out your page more in the future also.

Yes, that is an ART compressor I use in my RX audio chain, kind of tames that audio a little bit. Thanks for the comment!

Well thanks Davy, and sounds great on the paddles! Sounds like Christmas was good for you then. You will have no problem getting general, you are interested and that is what it takes for the most part! . 73

Oh yea, the dreaded dot problem, that was one of the main problems they had when they did have a problem. Have to remove all that wax from the board is my understanding. Lot of work.

Hey, yours is one of the first ham radio videos I remember seeing before I began over 3 years ago. I am getting into CQ now, and saw you have a J38 key. The key on the other board you said you liked the feel of better -- was that a Nye Viking? Thanks.

Yes actually it is. I like it fine for what I do I guess, very nice key. Thanks for watching the videos also! 73 and great to hear you are getting into CW, I don't do a lot of it but once in a while I like to brush up on it and it is relaxing to listen to.

I noticed your sidetone was always different. Was this intentional or do you prefer not to zero beat?
