3.0s in orange with RS wheels. Top of the tree where Capri's are concerned. A lot of Capri's do look very dated now, this one doesn't. A work of art.

Car looks fantastic in Signal Orange, those are not RS wheels, they’re 15 inch JBW RS replicas that are made in China. 15 inch RS wheels as per the 280 look great on them, sorry but these look naff

I prefer the original 1978 Mark III S-series issue Capri Ghia 13" 8-spoke alloys all in grey (part no. 76EBDB) , That would have been stock for a 3.0S in 1979. Then it was the 4-spoke RS alloys as I had on my 2.0S from 1983.

Brilliant car! We never had them in the USA. But I spent about 14 years in Germany and my older brother had a few of them back in the day. He had a group of buddies that all had Capris. On the weekends he’d get together with all his buddies to go on a romp through the German countryside. He’d drag me along with him. Good times.

I never liked capris till I bought a 1980 3.0S for £200 with the interior falling to bits... I only owned it for 6 months...What a Car !!!... The V6 noise, and the 4 speed box meant 30mph was just between 3rd and 4th.... I'd luv it when it rained,so coming out of any corner a blip of the throttle would result in a bit of opposite lock even at 20mph.. Unfortunately newborn kids made me move to a Mondeo... I can say though... I've owned a 3.0S Capri 😊😊😊😊😊

3.0S in orange - doesn’t get any better than that... The humble ‘Cortina’ origins of the Capri and the awful image problem aside, these cars are amazing and have aged fabulously well - the 15” reps are all that’s required to make it still look very relevant. The black trim remains as cool today as it was back then. Pure class.

Beautiful car Bobby, like a few people on here I've had a few of these. First one was a 1.6GL followed by a few 2litres, a couple of 2.8s and a 3litre. Loved how the 3s rock when you blip the throttle when you're stationary. After thirty years of constant ownership I sold my last one seven years ago - biggest mistake ref car ownership I ever made. Glad to see it obviously brings you joy. Much maligned by folks who claim to know about cars, great fun to drive and lovely to look at. Great vid

I live here in the US. Just turned 60 myself. Owned three Capris as a young lad. Two were 1976 Black Cat Special Editions, with the 2.8Litre V6 motors. Powerful and spritely. Owned them back to back....both were totaled by drunk drivers. I decided it might be time to change it up! 😕 Miss those cars. There was a Rockstock (wide body) version of those cars that I always lusted after. I often look on eBay to see if I can find one. Orange is my favorite color, so your car is near and dear to me. Always liked Capri's, the first car I owned after passing the driving test. First Capri I ever drove was a Mk1 3000GXL and decided I had to have one. After looking at a few Mk1 rot boxes I eventually settled on a 1975 Mk2 3000GT. Sunset red with black vinyl roof (all the rage on the 70's). Bought it with a bank loan and insured it in my Dad's name with me as a second named driver, as you could do back then! A reasonably quick car in it's day buy way outclassed by modern standards. Ran it for two years and sold it for a XJ12 but still have a soft spot for them. 👍

Very nice. I put bilsteins on the back of mine and took the spax adjustables off as i wanted to keep the back softer, so it puts the power down better, its the fronts that need firming up, if the rear is too hard the car can hop, i heard of one that had just had a brand new shell and that lost it and hopped through a bus shelter! I had loads of 3 litre Capri's, mine was a 3 litre S but I put a 350 chevy in it as I couldn't justify the price of some of the Essex v6 parts. I don't regret it and love it more than ever..The car we always promised ourselves! Keep it going as long as you can they are a special car in many ways.

Common theme here in the comments but I had a 3.0s and 4 2.8injections back in the 80's and early 90's, and wish I'd kept any one of them, from my x reg 4 speed with its tartan interior and pepper pot alloys to the last one, one of the last non Brooklands cars a D reg special in bright red, quite an unusual colour for a 2.8. Its crazy to think they were so cheap at one time, im pretty sure I got less than 2 grand for my last one and it would of been only 6 or 7 years old at the time, nice ones now are worth a lot of money and sadly can't afford to spend that much on a toy. I liked your video but it would of been good to see more of the interior and hear more of that v6. Cracking car though.

My dream car when I was a kid. One of my friends had a silver 1980 model 3.0 S with a vinyl roof. I drove it a few times and it felt like a rocketship. 2.8i was so fast that you actually needed a V12/V8 Jaguar or big engined BMW or Mercedes to outrun it to 0-100 km/h and of course other kids didn't have such cars. So that 3.0S was pretty much the "king of our neighbourhood". LOL. Porsches and Ferraris of course were much faster but they were on completely different planet and price category so they didn't even count. I prefer the look of 3.0S over the 2.8 injection myself. Looks absolutely timeless even today, SO good. So few of them in the UK seem to have them with the vinyl roof which was cool. The 1.3 and 1.6 versions were an embarrassment though. Why did they make them, crazy?

Unfortunately things happen during shoots. We always set up mics for exhaust notes, in this case there was too much rattling to add it into the video, the roads we shoot on aren't the greatest which doesn't always help. I bought my beloved, fire-Engine Red Capri 2.0L Ghia at ten years old, back in 1989 for just 250 quid! it was immaculate, carefully loved and owned with just 30k on the clock...but in 89, nobody wanted them! My local mechanic sold it to me because it was taking up space in his garage and he couldn't shift it! I was mid-thirties at the time and still single and I swear this is the truth: the Ford Capri was the Only car in my experience, that you could pull into a bus-stop and ask a pretty girl if she wanted a lift...and she would get in! Try that in a Porsche and even an Aston and they will tell you to piss off! The Ford Capri, I truly believe, is the only car I know of, that can get you laid! Girls LOVE Capri's...they can't tell a Porsche from a Peugeot!

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-(((
